Week 13 Running Back Fantasy Football News and Injuries

Week 12 Running Back Rankings Analysis

A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks or injury news for key running back options in Week 13, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether to start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.

Tony Pollard, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Week 13 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 6
Week 13 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 3

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard will look for his third straight strong fantasy performance in a Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Pollard had been struggling for most of the season, but he's scored a touchdown in each of his past two games and has finished as the overall fantasy RB12 and RB9 in those two contests.

The Seahawks matchup on Thursday Night Football is unlikely to slow him down, especially with how well the Dallas offense has been moving the ball since their bye week. Pollard is a low-end RB1 this week.

Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Week 13 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 17
Week 13 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 12

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler will look to put an end to his recent struggles in a Week 13 game against the New England Patriots. Ekeler has put up just 13 fantasy points in his last two games combined, finishing as the fantasy RB32 and 36 in those two weeks. Before that, he'd put up 20 points for three weeks in a row and finished as a top-six option at his position.

The Patriots' defense has been strong against opposing running backs, but Ekeler should still be able to find some room to run, and his involvement in the passing game always helps to boost his fantasy stats. He's a high-end RB2 with a clear upside this week.

Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans
Week 13 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 10
Week 13 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 6

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is looking to stay hot against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13. Last week against the Carolina Panthers, he rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns. On Sunday, he'll face a Colts defense that has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season.

Although the Colts limited Henry to just 62 total yards and zero touchdowns in the first meeting between the two teams, he remains a must-start based on his workload. For what it's worth, Henry has averaged 4.8 yards per carry and has scored five touchdowns at home, while he has averaged 3.4 yards per carry and has found the end zone just once on the road. This Week 13 matchup takes place in Nashville.

Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Week 13 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 48
Week 13 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 24

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet drew his first career start in Week 12 with Kenneth Walker III (oblique) inactive due to injury. The rookie took 14 carries for 47 yards and added 11 receiving yards on his four catches against the San Francisco 49ers on Thanksgiving. With Walker doubtful for Week 13, Charbonnet will have another crack at the starting job, but it will be tough sledding yet again.

In another Thursday night matchup, the Seahawks will be in Dallas to take on the Cowboys. The Cowboys' defense has allowed just one touchdown to opposing running backs in the last four weeks, and their explosive offense keeps teams playing catchup early and often, limiting opponents' use of the run game. It's likely that the Seahawks will be playing from behind, limiting the amount of work Charbonnet sees even if he is Seattle's featured back for another week.

Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans
Week 13 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 100
Week 13 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 38

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has not been a factor in fantasy football lately, but his best game of the season came against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13. In the Week 5 meeting in Indianapolis, Spears rushed seven times for 34 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 35 yards.

That said, Spears' role has changed week-to-week, so there's no reason to trust him in 12-team leagues. However, deep-league fantasy managers can utilize him as a desperation flex play. With six teams on a bye this week, he's a viable option in fantasy lineups. A ton of targets or a touchdown could set him up for double-digit fantasy points.
