Gus Edwards (RB, BAL) - Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 3% of leagues

ANALYSIS: If you recall back to the 2018 season, there was a brief period towards the end of the year where Gus Edwards was very useful for fantasy purposes. In Week 11, he was named the starter and put up 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. He finished the 2018 season with a very solid YPC of 5.24 with 137 carries for 718 yards. The biggest question after that was whether or not Edwards was simply the product of a system, or he was actually a talented running back. Maybe it was a bit of both, but either way, we saw him be very productive in the time that he spent as the starter.

After the Ravens went out and acquired Mark Ingram, Edwards was left as basically an afterthought and is seen as just a guy. In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Ravens also drafted an electric third-down, pass-catching back in Justice Hill. This really threw the Edwards hype to the side, and he went undrafted in most leagues and is still clearly getting no respect with his 3% ownership.

In Week 1 we saw Edwards get 17 carries where he posted 56 yards and no targets in the passing game. Edwards isn't someone that is going to be a very popular name on the waiver wire, but with the nature of the running back position in the NFL, he's definitely someone worth targetting and stashing if you've got the roster spot for him. Don't go out of your way to start him, but if anything were to happen to Ingram, Edwards will more than likely see the majority of the rushing work for the Ravens and their exciting young offense.
