Gerald Everett (TE, LAR) - Week 5 Waiver Wire

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 5% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Finding a tight end to rely on is becoming increasingly problematic in deep leagues. The dearth of talent at the position forces owners to keep returning to tantalizing but underperforming options, like Gerald Everett, who has never quite matched the hopes many had for him in the dynamic Rams offense. However, things might be changing.

Despite Tyler Higbee returning from injury in Week 4, Gerald Everett still spent more time on the field. He saw 57% of the team's snaps, to 44% for Higbee. He also ran a route on 54% of Jared Goff's dropbacks, while Higbee only ran a route on 30% of dropbacks. While Higbee and Everett both saw identical 10% target shares, Everett being on the field more and running more routes gives him more opportunities for production, as evidenced by his five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown on eight targets against the Bucs.

Now, every game won't be this kind of shootout where the Rams Defense gives up 55 points; however, they are, and will continue to be, a dynamic offense. With upcoming games against the Seahawks, 49ers, Falcons, Bengals, and Steelers, Everett will face defenses that are susceptible to being beaten through the air. He will always remain a dart throw with the Rams receiving options at full strength, but he has the role and schedule to be a calculated risk over the next few weeks.
