Geoff Swaim (TE, DAL) - Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Let's get a disclaimer out of the way up front: Geoff Swaim is currently dealing with a sprained MCL that forced him out of the contest in week seven and has now put his week nine status against the Tennessee Titans in doubt. Now, having said that, Geoff Swaim remains an interesting option (obviously, if he plays) among the very shallow pool of available candidates at the tight end position. With Ezekiel Elliott being the focal point of the Cowboy offense and Dak Prescott passing for just 202.4 yards per game, there isn't a whole lot of feasting to go around if you are a Dallas pass-catcher (unless of course you are Elliott). However, Swaim has proven to be one of Prescott's most reliable and effective targets so far this season.

Despite ranking fourth on the team in targets (24), Swaim impressively ranks third on the roster in receptions (19) and actually ranks second in receiving yards with 205 behind only Cole Beasley. Also while Dak Prescott has been near the bottom of the NFL in passing TD (8), Swaim has still managed to be one of six Cowboys with a touchdown grab, which he nabbed on one of his two red-zone targets (both of which came within the ten-yard line). With his catch-percentage of 79.2% being the best on the team among all players with more than a single target, it is possible that Swaim will have earned greater consideration from Prescott moving forward. Amari Cooper may have been brought in from a trade with the Oakland Raiders and he might still be dealing with this MCL injury, but considering the very sparse options among widely-available tight ends, Geoff Swaim presents plenty of interesting upside in deeper leagues.
