Gameweek 30 Preview - Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 Tips and Captaincy Picks

Gameweek Tips - Fantasy Premier League, Soccer

Adewale provides a preview of what Gameweek 30 has in store for fantasy managers, including top captain selections and strong picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

The international break is over! The Premier League returns as all 20 teams prepare for the season's final run-in. Gameweek 30 starts in a few hours. Prepare your fantasy teams as we highlight the best fantasy tips each week.

The FPL Challenge: 7-a-side series continues, where managers can select a team of seven, with different tasks assigned each week. As always, we’ll offer weekly breakdowns of the must-haves to target and help you maximize your point potential.

The Gameweek 30 deadline for the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is Tuesday, April 1, at 1:15 p.m. EDT. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Gameweek 30 FPL Tips

Target Arsenal and Newcastle Assets

With only nine games left to play in the league this season, the Gunners have a tough task ahead in surmounting league leaders Liverpool, who are 12 points ahead of Arsenal.

Gameweek 30 looks like a prime time to hop on Arsenal assets thanks to a run of favorable fixtures and a likely double gameweek announcement ahead.

Arsenal fans will be excited to have their 'Starboy,' Bukayo Saka, back with the team. The 23-year-old has been out with a severe hamstring injury since Gameweek 17, and his return is crucial for Arsenal's final run-in, as well as the Champions League.

The newly crowned 2024/25 Carabao Cup champions celebrated their first competitive trophy in 70 years, defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the EFL Cup final. Newcastle's recent success will boost their ambition to secure a home victory as they host Brentford at the St. James' Park this Wednesday.

With this in mind, FPL managers are advised to prioritize selecting assets from Arsenal or Newcastle for Gameweek 30.

According to goal projections, Arsenal is projected to produce a 1.95 xG (expected goals) and 2.10 xG for Newcastle against their respective opponents this week.

Recommended FPL assets for attacking returns:

  • Arsenal: Martin Ødegaard (on pens), Mikel Merino, and Jurrien Timber.
  • Newcastle: Alexander Isak (on pens), Jacob Murphy, and Harvey Barnes.

Possible Blank and Double Gameweeks Ahead: Gameweeks 33 and 34

With the FA Cup quarterfinals concluded, we have a couple of teams scheduled to play twice or have a blank gameweek soon. While we await the official announcement of the rearranged fixtures, here is an update on the likely blanks and doubles.

From the current fold of events, Manchester City, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford are six teams set to have a double gameweek in Matchday 33 and a blank fixture the following week in Matchday 34.

Crystal Palace is one of the core teams to target for the next four weeks, as the Eagles have back-to-back double gameweeks between Gameweek 32 and 33, playing six times within this run.

Chip Strategies to Employ Between Gameweeks 30 and 34

For fantasy managers, this opens the window to capitalize on our remaining chips. If you still have the Assistant Manager chip available, Oliver Glasner appears to be the prime manager to target between Gameweeks 31 and 33.

The 50-year-old Austrian manager has secured four wins in his last five matches for Crystal Palace, scoring a total of 61 points and ranked third for managers in the current FPL standings.

A popular chip strategy to follow would be to activate the Wildcard chip between Gameweeks 30 and 31, Bench Boost in Gameweek 33, and finish off with the Free Hit chip, which will help evade an imminent blank fixture in Matchday 34.

Here is a potential Gameweek 30 wildcard draft team to guide you in making your selections.

Gameweek 30 Top Captain Picks

The midweek fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Justin Kluivert against Ipswich, Jean-Philippe Mateta against Spurs, and Alexander Isak against Brentford present strong cases. However, my top two picks would be:

Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) - Liverpool

In his last five games, the Egyptian king has contributed eight attacking returns (five goals and three assists) for Liverpool. He leads the FPL rankings with 306 points.

Salah has a favorable home tie against local rivals Everton, where the 32-year-old boasts a goal record of eight goals scored in his last 12 appearances against the Toffees. Salah will be eager to get on the scoresheet this weekend and is favored as our RotoBaller captain of the week.

Omar Marmoush (£7.3m) - Man City

Manchester City's top forward Erling Haaland was substituted due to an injury in the FA Cup quarterfinals. It may be too soon for the Norwegian to play against Leicester City.

As a result, we turn our attention to another Egyptian elite superstar, Omar Marmoush, who appears on our list of top captains in Gameweek 30.

With five goals scored since joining Man City in January, he is expected to lead City's attack. Marmoush is a solid alternate captain pick who could rack in points for fantasy managers when the Cityzens host the Foxes at the Etihad Stadium this week.

FPL Challenge: 7-A-Side Series

The FPL Challenge section for the 2024-25 season is back, and RotoBaller remains your go-to source for valuable insights on selecting the right assets for any challenge.

The 29th challenge launched the 7-a-side series, focusing on selecting a team of seven players with an unlimited budget. A new event series is underway, and our job is to help you maximize points for each task presented.

Here is a breakdown of what to expect from the FPL Challenge: 7-a-side series.

The 7-A-Side event is a four-gameweek run that highlights the top performers in each position while picking at least seven players. This series covers four tests focusing on earning points through different players and play styles.

  • Gameweek 29: 7-A-Side - Unlimited budget, 7-a-side.
  • Gameweek 30: Fortified Front - Only midfielders and strikers allowed.
  • Gameweek 31: Park The Bus - Only goalkeepers and defenders allowed.
  • Gameweek 32: All-Rounder - Must use the formation 2-2-2.

7-A-Side FPL Challenge: Fortified Front - Players to Target

Week 30 of the FPL Challenge involves selecting a team of seven players with an unlimited budget. However, this week's task only allows for fantasy managers to select midfielders and forwards in a 0-4-3 formation.

RotoBaller's top picks for this week's challenge are:

  • In midfield, Justin Kluivert, Bruno Fernandes, Mikel Merino, and Mohamed Salah are our top midfield options. Salah takes the spotlight as our captain of the week.
  • A trio of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Alexander Isak, and Omar Marmoush completes the attack.

Remember, you are free to select any other top FPL Challenge alternatives not mentioned above.

Best of luck to everyone participating in this week's challenge!
