Gameweek 27 Preview - Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 Tips and Captaincy Picks

Gameweek Tips - Fantasy Premier League, Soccer

This article provides a preview of what Gameweek 27 has in store for fantasy managers, including top captain selections and strong picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

Newcastle's 4-3 victory over Nottingham Forest was one of the main highlights of Gameweek 26. FPL managers rejoiced over Alexander Isak's 13-point haul last weekend. There is no time to relax. The deadline for Gameweek 27 draws near in a few hours. Ready yourselves! RotoBaller offers you the best tips to help with your fantasy team.

The FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager Series introduces this week's new task called "Team Chemistry," where players from the Assistant Manager's club earn double points. As always, we’ll offer weekly breakdowns of the top assets to target and help you maximize your point potential.

The Gameweek 27 deadline for the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is Tuesday, February 25, at 1:00 p.m. EST. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Gameweek 27 FPL Tips

London's Finest: Target Chelsea, Brentford, and West Ham Attacking Assets

The midweek fixtures are here, and we will be extending our FPL coverage to three London teams with a striking home advantage against their next opponents. Let's start with Chelsea.

With just two victories in their last 10 Premier League matches, the Blues experienced a minor slump in the middle of the 2024-25 season and are currently outside the top-6.

Their next opponent, Southampton, is a team that has conceded 61 goals this season and is a clear favorite to be relegated. Gameweek 27 might be an excellent time to invest in the Blues' offense.

After winning three of their last five games and scoring seven goals during that time frame, Brentford is back in form. In Gameweek 26, the Bees' talisman Bryan Mbeumo and attacker Yoane Wissa combined for 22 points against Leicester. This duo will be looking to replicate their efforts against Everton on Wednesday.

West Ham ended its four-game winless run against Arsenal through the effort of the Hammers captain, Jarrod Bowen. Since returning from injury, the England international has now scored two goals in his last three matches and will fancy his chances to score a third against a struggling Leicester City squad on Thursday.

To this end, FPL managers are advised to prioritize selecting attacking assets from Chelsea, Brentford, or West Ham for Gameweek 27.

According to goal projections, these three London teams are projected to produce a 3.00 xG (expected goals) for Chelsea, 1.65 xG for Brentford, and 1.95 xG for West Ham against their respective opponents in Gameweek 27.

Recommended FPL assets for attacking returns:

  • Chelsea: Cole Palmer (on pens), Christopher Nkunku, Enzo Fernandez, and Marc Cucurella.
  • Brentford: Bryan Mbeumo (on pens), Yoane Wissa, and Mikkel Damsgaard.
  • West Ham: Jarrod Bowen (on pens) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Gameweek 27 Top Captain Picks

The midweek fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Bruno Fernandes against Ipswich, Matheus Cunha against Fulham, and Bryan Mbeumo against Everton present strong cases. However, my top two picks would be:

Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) - Liverpool

Mohamed Salah leads the FPL rankings with 285 points and averages 10.6 points per match. The Egyptian King now has 41 goal contributions (25 goals, 16 assists) for Liverpool in the Premier League and is a no-brainer each week for the captain's armband.

The 32-year-old boasts a goal record of 10 goals scored in his last 16 outings against Newcastle. Mo Salah also scored an 18-point haul against the Geordies back in Gameweek 14 and will be aiming to hit the 300 FPL point mark this week at Anfield. Salah is our RotoBaller captain of the week!

Cole Palmer (£11.1m) - Chelsea

"Iced Cold" Palmer makes a return into our captain contender of the week. Although the Englishman has not scored a goal for Chelsea in his last five matches, Cole Palmer is still Chelsea's leading goal scorer with 14 goals to his name. He will aim to break his goal drought this Tuesday.

According to player goal projections for Gameweek 27, Cole Palmer leads the player goal projections and is estimated to produce 0.95 xG (expected goals) against Southampton. To this end, Palmer is a prime candidate for the captain's armband for Gameweek 27.

FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager Series

The FPL Challenge section for the 2024-25 season is back, and RotoBaller remains your go-to source for valuable insights on selecting the right assets for any challenge.

The 26th challenge, "The Assistant Manager - GW 3," focused on selecting a team of 10 players with a Premier League manager. This week's challenge marks a continuation of the new Assistant Manager chip, and our job is to help you maximize points for each task presented.

In case you missed it, here is a recap of the FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager series.

The Assistant Manager Series is a five-gameweek run that experiments with the Assistant Manager chip, as fantasy managers can select any Premier League manager to boost their fantasy team. This series covers five tests focusing on earning points through different players and play styles.

  • Gameweek 24 to 26: The Assistant Manager GW 1-3 - You can play an Assistant Manager.
  • Gameweek 27: Team Chemistry - Players from the Assistant Manager's Club earn double points.
  • Gameweek 28: Double Down - Assistant Managers earn double points.

Assistant Manager FPL Challenge: Team Chemistry - Players to Target

Week 27 of the FPL Challenge involves selecting a team of 10 players and one Premier League manager with a budget of £100 million. This week's challenge benefits players from the Premier League manager's team as they will receive double points for each return.

In light of this, we will be concentrating on the London teams stated above. RotoBaller's top picks for this week's challenge are:

  • In goal, André Onana is our top goalkeeper of the week.
  • In defense, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Marc Cucurella, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. All three defenders are solid defensive assets to bank on for this week's task.
  • In midfield, Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer, Bryan Mbeumo, and Jarrod Bowen are our top midfield options. Salah takes the spotlight as our captain of the week.
  • A front-line duo of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Yoane Wissa completes the attack, rounding off our lineup in a 3-4-2 formation.
  • Enzo Maresca is our top manager for the Team Chemistry Assistant Manager FPL Challenge.

Remember, you are free to select any other top FPL Challenge alternatives not mentioned above. Best of luck to everyone participating in this week's challenge!
