Gameweek 1 Rankings - Fantasy Premier League Predictions, Tips, and Picks for 2024/25

FPL Gameweek 1 rankings, predictions, tips, and picks for Fantasy Premier League lineups. RotoBaller's EPL fantasy Gameweek 1 rankings for the 2024/25 FPL season.

Welcome to the FPL Gameweek 1 rankings update, RotoBallers! Mohamed Salah (£12.5M) or Cole Palmer (£10.5M)? Kai Havertz (£8.0M) or Ollie Watkins (£9.0M). All will be revealed in our Gameweek 1 rankings. Throughout the season, these weekly rankings will be published on Tuesday and updated on Friday after press conferences and training reports. So keep the RotoBaller soccer coverage bookmarked for all your FPL needs.

Cole Palmer blew away the competition last season as the £5.0M asset produced 244 points. As a result, the English midfielder has flown up the pricing charts to £10.5M for the 2024/25 season. For a Gameweek 1 punt, Yankubu Minteh (£5.5M) from Brighton is getting a lot of steam. The Brighton midfielder came over from Newcastle United this summer and has made a massive impression in the preseason for the Seagulls.

The Gameweek 1 deadline of the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League season is Friday, August 16 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, when Manchester United welcomes Fulham to open the campaign. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League slate and UEFA Champions League game with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 1 Rankings

Our weekly rankings highlight players who could be worth a punt in your Fantasy Premier League squad. While the rankings will be filled with familiar names, a low-owned player with an easy fixture will rise up the one-week charts. For each gameweek, we will provide our top 15 goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. These can also be applied as DFS rankings for your weekend contests.

2023/24 Fantasy Premier League High Scorers

  • Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford, Everton - 153 points
  • Defender: Ben White, Arsenal - 182 points
  • Midfielder: Cole Palmer, Chelsea - 244 points
  • Forward: Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa - 228 points

FPL Goalkeepers - Gameweek 1 Rankings - UPDATED

  • Liverpool looks much more in control during their preseason friendlies under new manager Arne Slot. More control should equal less chaos and, as a result, provide Alisson Becker (£5.5M) with more chances at clean sheets. Usually, the Brazilian shot-stopper would single-handedly save Liverpool's afternoon, but a calmer approach among the Anfield defense should boost Alisson's chances of racking up FPL points.
  • Dean Henderson (£4.5M) has seemingly won the No. 1 job at Crystal Palace. The Eagles front office has told Sam Johnstone he may seek a transfer to another team. This is excellent news for Henderson's short and long-term prospects. After Oliver Glasner took over, Palace conceded the third-fewest goals in the league.
  • Friday update: Our projections dropped Andre Onana from fourth to outside the top 15. Man United has suffered some injuries along the defense this week, but that is a drastic plummet. Jason Steele has jumped into the top 5 with Onana's fall and the confirmation that his teammate, Bart Verbruggen won't be back for Gameweek 1.

FPL Defenders - Gameweek 1 Rankings - UPDATED

  • Every defensive Arsenal asset any FPL manager should want came in at £6.0M or above. William Saliba (£6.0M) is no different. No matter what comes along, the Frenchman is nailed in the Gunners' backline and bagged a header in the team's final preseason friendly. Gabriel (£6.0M) also grabbed a goal in that friendly, but we all remember how much his minutes came under threat when Julien Timber (£5.5M) and Thomas Partey (£5.0M) were healthy.
  • As of this writing, Kieran Trippier (£6.0M) hasn't been ruled out for Gameweek 1, but it's unlikely he'll make Newcastle's opening-day squad. This leaves Timo Livramento (£4.5M) and Lewis Hall (£4.5M) with the opportunity to shine for Eddie Howe's defense. Both like to get forward and create havoc for the opposition. A home game against newly promoted Southampton could be just what the young defenders need to establish confidence and potentially snag an attacking return.
  • Friday update: Diogo Dalot took a giant leap up the defender rankings after Manchester United announced that Luke Shaw will miss the beginning of the season. This secures the Portuguese defender's minutes along the Red Devils' backline. Elsewhere, Josko Gvardiol cracks the top 15 and is the only Man City defender inside the top 30 of our rankings.

FPL Midfielders - Gameweek 1 Rankings - UPDATED

  • After a couple of disappointing seasons, I'm expecting a big bounce-back campaign from Bruno Fernandes (£8.5M). The Man United captain has underperformed compared to his xGI (expected Goal Involvement) in the previous two campaigns, so positive regression could be right around the corner. A home date with Fulham to open the season on Friday night is exactly what the Red Devil's talisman needs to kick on towards a big campaign.
  • Anthony Gordon (£7.5M) was prolific at St. James Park in front of the Newcastle United fans last year. Even more so when playing against weaker opponents. In 10 games against bottom-six sides, Gordon came away with nine attacking returns. The question surrounding his fitness after Euro 2024 action still needs to be answered. Still, the English winger will be an excellent pick for Gameweek 1 and most of the season, whether he remains in a Toon Army shirt or moves to another club (Liverpool).
  • Friday update: Martin Odegaard and Son Heung-min swapped positions in the rankings. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota climbed into the top 15 as many FPL managers expect him to help them cover Mohamed Salah in Saturday's contest against Ipswich.

FPL Forwards - Gameweek 1 Rankings - UPDATED

  • The big captaincy debate for Gameweek 1 seems to be coming down to Erling Haaland (£15.0M) versus Mohamed Salah (£12.5M). However, Alexander Isak (£8.5M) deserves to be in the conversation. The Swedish striker is on penalties, and everything flows through him when Newcastle United is in top form. A home game against Southampton looms, but this could be a game with three or four goals by the time the final whistle blows on Saturday afternoon.
  • Dominic Solanke (£7.5M) has switched from Bournemouth to Spurs since the latest predictions ran. I expect him to be a big riser in the rankings when Friday's update is released. The former Cherries frontman bagged 19 goals and three assists last season, and those numbers will rise as he plays with the most talented set of teammates he's ever seen.
  • Friday update: Not a lot has changed amongst the forwards during the week, with the top four (Isak, Haaland, Havertz, and Solanke) remaining the same.
