MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Max Fried under 4.5 strikeouts (-105, DraftKings sportsbook)

The Braves are in need of a win on Monday night after falling behind 1-0 to the division-rival Phillies. While Fried could help his club earn the victory, it's unlikely he will rack up at least five strikeouts in this one.

For starters, it's unclear how long he will be able to last in this ball game. He last pitched on Sept. 21 before hitting the injured list due to a finger injury and any recurrence of the injury or underperformance because of it will have Fried on a short leash. Remember, the Braves can ill afford to go down 2-0 in a best three-of-five NLDS. This is the postseason and even some of the best pitchers in baseball are yanked upon early struggles.

Admittedly, the Phillies' elevated 25.3% K% against left-handed pitching this season is the fourth-highest mark in baseball this season. However, they also finished the regular season eighth with a .334 wOBA off of left-handers.

Fried's lone start against the Phillies this season was a good one as he tossed five frames of one-run ball with six strikeouts against them on Sept. 12, his second-to-last start of the regular season. Again, he has made just two starts over the last month which doesn't bode well for his length in this one.

Add it up and the under is the smart play on this particular prop tonight in Atlanta.

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Trea Turner over 1.5 total bases (+115, DraftKings sportsbook)

If the Phillies are able to get to Fried in this one, Trea Turner is a great suspect to do some damage at quality plus-money odds.

Turner has been a man on a mission following a horrendous start to his Phillies tenure. He has racked up five hits, including a pair of doubles, across the first three games of this postseason following a white-hot finish to his regular season. Turner hit .292 with a big-time .262 isolated power and a .901 OPS in the season's second half. He actually hit right-handed pitching better than he did lefties this season but posted slightly superior power numbers against southpaws.

He has also enjoyed some serious success in his career against Fried across a healthy sample size. He has gone 11-for-35 (.400) with two doubles and a homer across 39 career plate appearances against Fried. He went 1-for-3 against Fried in the aforementioned Sept. 12 noted above but he also went 3-for-5 with a homer in that contest.

He is actually one of several Phillies, including the likes of J.T. Realmuto, Nick Castellanos, and Bryce Harper, to have big career numbers off of Fried. However, with the way he has hit down the stretch and into the postseason, Turner is the pick of the litter to rack up at least a pair of total bases in this one tonight.
