Today's MLB Betting Picks - Rangers @ Astros

We have a division rivalry in this one where the Houston Astros are favored against the Texas Rangers with good reason. The Rangers will be throwing left-hander, Andrew Heaney, who has started the 2024 campaign off rough by posting a 7.56 ERA across his first 8 1/3 innings pitched. In his last start, he faced these Astros and got torched to the tune of allowing six earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings pitched.
This should not come as much of a surprise as the Astros have always been known to hit well against left-handers. Over the previous two weeks, Houston has posted a 119 wRC+ mark against southpaws while also posting a 9.7% walk rate and sub-20% K rate. This is why I like the Astros team Total in this game. It is currently set to 4.5 with the over being set to -130.

Today's MLB Betting Picks - Nationals @ Athletics

The Washington Nationals' bats have really come to play thus far in 2024, especially against right-handed pitching. To begin the 2024 season, they have posted a wRC+ mark of 111 vs. righties, which ranks 10th-best in baseball. They have also posted a 10.2% walk rate and a K rate that sits right at 20%, both of which are solid.
They will be up against Athletics' right-hander Joe Boyle, who has had a forgettable first two starts of the 2024 season. Over his first two starts, he has posted a 8.22 ERA across 7 2/3 innings pitched. He has allowed four earned runs and six earned runs in his first two starts, respectively. He has also struggled with command as he has given up seven walks across these two starts.
The Nationals should be able to take advantage of Boyle here and there are a couple of bets worth taking a look at. The first would be the Nationals team total over 3.5 set to -115 and the second would be a bet that backs Nationals starter Mackenzie Gore (Oakland is currently posting a 79 wRC+ mark vs. southpaws) by taking the Nationals first five innings money line currently set to -135.
