Waiver Wire Pickups, Adds and Sleepers for Fantasy Hockey (Week 17)

What’s up RotoBallers? Welcome to my week 17 edition of the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few skaters at each position that will steer your fantasy hockey team toward a championship.

Whether your fantasy hockey team is dealing with injuries or lack of production, these NHL players will help you get back on track. These players can be considered waiver wire pickups or sleepers depending on the league format.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Forwards

Alex Galchenyuk (F, MON) - 51% Owned

With five goals and six points in six games, Alex Galchenyuk is currently one of the Canadians most productive skaters. He has been efficient all season long, posting 15 G, 16 A and a +9 rating through 49 games. Galchenyuk has already surpassed his career high of 31 points set a season ago. He is a solid forward option for the remainder of the year.

Jordan Staal (F, CAR) - 14% Owned

After missing the first few months of the season, Jordan Staal has notched nine points in 13 games upon his return. He is now skating on the Hurricanes top line alongside his brother, Eric. Expect Staal to see a heavy workload over the Hurricanes' final 30 games. He has five assists in his last four outings and that type of production is likely to continue.

Joe Colborne (F, CGY) - 3% Owned

After scoring 28 points in 80 games a season ago, Joe Colborne has 20 points in just 33 games this season. The young center has seven points in his last seven games and is starting to see some consistent power-play time for the Flames. His overall ice-time continues to rise as well, making him a valuable fantasy option going forward.

Carl Hagelin (F, NYR) - 4% Owned

Known more for his defensive skills, Carl Hagelin has been showing his offensive abilities as of late. He has five points over his last five games and posted a season-high eight shots on goal in his last outing. Hagelin is sporting a +11 rating on the year and is a decent fantasy option in deeper leagues.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Defensemen

Adam Larsson (D, NJ) - 2% Owned

The new year has been very kind to Adam Larsson. After skating over 20:00 only twice over his first 21 games, Larsson has logged over 20:00 in all 11 of his January outings. To take that a step further, he has skated over 23:00 in eight of those 11 games. Larsson is developing into quite a workhorse for the Devils. His offensive production has increased as well, netting six points in his last ten contests. He is an excellent blue line option for fantasy hockey owners.

Oscar Klefbom (D, EDM) - 1% Owned

With only 46 NHL games under his belt, Oscar Klefbom is still an unfinished product. He has just six points in 29 games this season, but he has found a groove as of late. Klefbom has four points over his last five games, with a +5 rating and 10 SOG during that stretch. He is averaging over 20:00 minutes per game, including 24:52 in his last contest. Klefbom has emerged as one of the Oilers best defensemen and is a sneaky fantasy option for the remainder of the year.

Hampus Lindholm (D, ANA) - 24% Owned

Hampus Lindhom has endured somewhat of an up and down season in terms of production. He has been solid lately, posting five points in his last seven games. He now has registered 21 points in 49 games and is sporting a +12 rating on the year. The Ducks are an elite team and Lindholm should be a reliable defensive option for the rest of the season.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Goaltenders

Devan Dubnyk (G, MIN) - 38% Owned

Since joining the Wild, Devan Dubnyk has six wins in seven starts. He has stopped 102 of 105 shots en route to four consecutive victories. Dubnyk is clearly Minnesota's best option in goal and should see the majority of starts going forward. Fantasy owners should take advantage of his current hot streak.
