Rest of Season (ROS) Rankings - Standard and PPR Leagues

RotoBaller brings you our rest of season (ROS) fantasy football rankings, from author Ryan Rufe (@RyanRufe).

Fantasy Football Rest of Season (ROS) Rankings

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge #2 is back with a massive $100,000 grand prize and $203,250 total prize pool, paying down to 100th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 8 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 17th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $100,000! Sign Up Now!

These rest of season rankings are broken down by position, and the ranks are largely based on weekly NFL matchups going forward and how each player is projected to perform against their opponents.  We also have wide receiver PPR rankings for those of you in PPR leagues.  Set your fantasy football lineups, and let’s win some leagues!

Rest of Season Rankings Highlights:

Peyton Manning sits on top of the QB ranks. Jamaal the RB ranks, Megatron the WR ranks, and Jimmy G. the TE ranks. Lots of yawns right? You wanna hear the interesting highlights, not the boring and obvious stuff. Well then, read onward RotoBaller....

By far the biggest QB shocker of the year for the rest of season rankings is Philip Rivers' reemergence as a top QB.  Currently ranked 5th overall, he has a tough schedule coming up but we still like him to continue his production and finish close to the top 5 at the end of the season. Injuries will happen, especially to Michael Vick, so while we remain unsurprised by Vick's low rest of season ranking, we've been pleasantly surprised by Nick Foles asserting himself.  Foles is just one more of many reasons why those of you in 1 QB leagues should rarely spend a high pick on a QB.   Jake Locker too. Case Keenum too.  So yea, next year, don't draft a QB in the first 5 rounds in 1 QB leagues!

As for running backs, we would need four hands to count the number of 1st round disappointments. It's a gross list of underachievers: Trent Richardson headlines the bunch, followed closely by Ray Rice, CJ Spiller, Doug Martin and David Wilson.  Unless you managed to snag a waiver wire all star like Stacy, Ellington, L. Bell, or Woodhead, you're most likely feeling the pain of losing one of those top guys.  Speaking of Stacy, he's a beast and the focal point of a remade run-first offense, and he's catching more passes each week. We wouldn't be surprised if he's a top 10 RB rest of season.  Another guy we like better than the experts is Eddie Lacy. After watching him run and the Aaron Rodgers injury, it's tough to figure how the experts consensus is 8th overall for Lacy.  We love him here at RotoBaller.  He's going to be a touch machine and he runs like a bulldozer. If you can flip a guy with more name value like Murray or Morris for Lacy, do it.

At WR, one of the biggest disparities between RotoBaller and the other experts is with T.Y. Hilton.  He's nearly like a better version of Victor Cruz, and with Reggie Wayne down he's the primary beneficiary of real-life QB superstar Andrew Luck.  Hilton blew up last week, and he's a QB1 rest of the season. He's much more likely to finish top 10 (our ranking) than 18 (expert consensus). We also like Harry Douglas a lot more than the experts - it's all about opportunity with this one as Douglas will see a ton of ball thrown his way rest of season. We wanted to put Keenan Allen even higher than 18, but the guys ahead of him mostly have established baselines of performance. That said, Keenan's ceiling is a top 10-15 WR for the rest of the year.  One guy we like a lot less than the experts is Hakeem Nicks. He's just too inconsistent to be ranked at 19 (experts rank) - we see him as a boom or bust guy and he'd be lucky to finish in the top 25 rest of the season.

Perhaps the biggest TE surprise is rookie Jordan Reed, who noone would've guess in the preseason would be a top 8 TE by the mid-point of 2013. Greg Olsen down at #12 reflects a disappointing first half considering preseason expectations. TE is mostly just incredibly lackluster. Top heavy with Graham, Gronk and Vernon, and it drops off scary fast after that.   If you can still buy a little low on Reed, he's possible of putting up top 5 TE numbers rest of the way.
