Daniel Jones Injury Update

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) said during an appearance on "Simms Complete" on the Bleav Podcast Network that he has had a "pretty smooth process" with "no real setbacks" while recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in 2023. "At this point," Jones said, "I'm doing pretty much everything — running, cutting, everything I need to do."

Once the former first-rounder returns to action during training camp this summer, he'll be playing for his job long-term, as his $47.8 million salary cap hit in 2024 is the fifth-largest in the NFL this year. If Jones gets hurt again in 2024 or disappoints, he could become a cap casualty with two years left on his four-year, $160 million deal. Even though the Giants added dynamic rookie wideout Malik Nabers this year, Jones will have to prove himself to both the G-Men and fantasy managers. Coming off a serious injury, he should be considered a low-end QB2 in fantasy.

Keaton Mitchell Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell (knee), whose rookie season ended in 2023 due to an ACL tear in his left knee in December, was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Monday to start training camp. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise after the 22-year-old suffered the season-ending injury late last year.

The bigger question will be whether Mitchell can make enough progress this summer to avoid staying on the PUP list for the start of the regular season, which would mean he'd have to miss at least the first four games of 2024. When healthy, he'll be a speedy complement to new RB Derrick Henry in Baltimore. Mitchell still has plenty of intrigue in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he'll most likely be left to the waiver wire in 12-team leagues this fall, especially if he stays on the PUP list to begin the regular season.

Dak Prescott Injury Update

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (ankle) said he will do his trip with his pass-catchers before training camp kicks off at the end of July as he has done the last several years. Prescott said the plan for now is for receiver CeeDee Lamb to be in attendance. The 30-year-old caused a stir recently when he was seen wearing a walking boot while on vacation, but he was wearing it strictly as a precaution after some soreness developed in his surgically repaired right ankle following two hard workouts.

Prescott was just being cautious and does not anticipate it being an issue when camp begins. He had surgery on his ankle back in 2020 due to a compound fracture and dislocation. Prescott should be 100% for the start of the 2024 season and should be considered a solid midrange QB1 target after coming off a great 2023 campaign.

Nick Chubb Injury Update

An Instagram post on Monday morning showed Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) doing two squat reps with what appears to be a total of 12 45-pound plates on a Tsunami Max bar. It's especially impressive, considering Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Week 2 game against the Steelers on Sept. 18 of last year that required two surgeries -- one to fix damage to his MCL, the medial capsule and meniscus, and the second to fix his ACL.

The four-time Pro Bowler suffered a similar injury, except for the torn ACL, in the same knee at Georgia in 205. Chubb isn't putting a timetable on his return but also didn't dismiss the possibility of being ready for Week 1 against Dallas this fall. He started running in April but didn't do any on-field work during OTAs or minicamp. The 28-year-old is likely to be eased in this year, which makes him more of a risky RB3 in fantasy than a surefire RB1.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Update

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) said he "feels good" when asked about his status with training camp approaching at the end of July. Rodgers tore his Achilles on the first offensive series in Week 1 last fall and missed the rest of his first year in New York. However, he miraculously returned to practices late last season and said his surgically repaired Achilles has felt good throughout the offseason and during organized team activities a month ago.

A healthy Rodgers should give Gang Green a realistic shot at the postseason given all the weapons they have on offense, but fantasy managers should temper expectations for a 40-year-old signal-caller coming off a major injury. If he stays healthy, Rodgers could easily finish as a top-15 fantasy QB, but relying on him as your QB1 is a risky proposition.

Audric Estime Injury Update

Denver Broncos rookie fifth-round running back Audric Estime (knee) missed most of the offseason program after undergoing a minor scope of his knee, but he's expected to be "full-go" for the starting of training camp in a few weeks, according to head coach Sean Payton. In limited action in front of the media this offseason, Estime looked the part of a RB who can bring more short-yardage toughness to Denver's backfield, but it remains to be seen if he can supplant Javonte Williams as an every-down option in 2024.

The 20-year-old from Notre Dame is probably a long shot to become the team's lead back, at least earlier in his rookie season, but he could take over goal-line duties fairly quickly, which could make him worth a late-round flier in deep fantasy leagues as a handcuff for Williams.

Joe Burrow Injury Update

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) expressed that he is "going to give people something to talk about" after having an injury-plagued 2023 season, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com. Burrow left the Week 11 game early last season due to a torn ligament in his wrist. This injury caused him to miss the remainder of the season. This was the second time where Burrow's season ended with him on Injured Reserve.

The former national champion further expressed, "That's what happens when you get hurt, though. You don't play football. People forget about you." Whenever he has been on the field, the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft has performed at an elite level, but injuries have followed him throughout his career. The 27-year-old could be a steal at his current ADP of 62.4 if he can stay healthy due to his elite pass-catchers in Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
