Fantasy Football Advice: NFC Week Two Recap

In this piece, RotoBaller Chris Lacey recaps all the matchups with NFC teams from this past Sunday.  He breaks down all the fantasy relevant stats you need to stay on top of to win your league!

 

Broncos vs. Giants

The Broncos' defense allowed Denver to cruise with a 41-23 victory as Peyton Manning was great once again. Peyton completed 30 passes for 302 yards with two touchdowns. Knowshon Moreno carried the ball 13 times for 93 yards with two TDs on the ground.

Eric Decker got in the action with nine receptions for 87 yards, and Peyton’s favorite receiver Wes Welker had a TD reception with 39 receiving yards.

Eli Manning did throw for 362 yards, but threw four INTs. Victor Cruz caught eight passes for 118 yards.

 

Cowboys vs. Chiefs Recap

Kansas City hung on as they defeated Dallas by a score of 17-16 on Sunday. Alex Smith threw two TDs while passing for 223 yards.  Jamal Charles and Dwayne Bowe each caught a touchdown pass.

Tony Romo completed 30 passes for 298 yards with just one TD. Dez Bryant was spectacular, catching seven passes for 141 yards and one touchdown.

 

Redskins vs. Packers

The Packers had a good rebound game and handled Washington with no issues as they won 38-20. Aaron Rodgers had a career day, completing 34 passes for 480 yards and threw four TDs.

James Starks had a big game with one rushing touchdown for 132 yards on 20 carries. James Jones and Randall Cobb were great, racking up 178 and 128 yards respectively. Jordy Nelson was also good with 66 receiving yards and two TDs.

Robert Griffin ended up having a decent game with three passing TDs and 320 yards in the air. Alfred Morris managed to rush for over 100 yards on 13 carries, and Pierre Garcon caught eight passes for 143 yards with one touchdown.

 

Chargers vs. Eagles

Philip Rivers spoiled Chip Kelly's homecoming with a 33-30 victory. Rivers had 36 completions for 419 yards with three passing touchdowns. Antonio Gates had eight catches for 124 yards and upstart Eddie Royal had three TD receptions along with 90 total receiving yards.

Michael Vick looked good again as he had 428 yards through the air with two passing TDs. DeSean Jackson had a monster performance, catching nine passes for 193 yards with one TD, and LeSean McCoy totaled 167 yards.

 

49ers vs. Seahawks

The defense for Seattle once again stole the show, as they won 29-3 against San Francisco. Russell Wilson threw for only 142 yards on eight completions. Marshawn Lynch ran for 98 yards with two TDs on 28 carries.

Colin Kaepernick struggled with him just completing 13 passes for 127 yards and was picked off three times. Kaepernick also led the team in rushing with 87 yards.

 

Rams vs. Falcons

Atlanta jumped out to an early lead and hung on late to win 31-24. Matt Ryan was impressive with 374 passing yards and two TDs. Julio Jones performed like the fantasy stud he is with 11 catches and 182 yards to include one TD.

Sam Bradford was solid with 352 passing yards and three TDs through the air. Chris Givens caught five passes for 105 yards, while Tavon Austin caught six passes for 47 yards with two of the receptions going for touchdowns.

 

Lions vs. Cardinals

Arizona looked good as they defeated Detroit 25-21. Carson Palmer was good enough for 22 completions for 248 yards with one touchdown. Rashard Mendenhall had a decisive TD that led to the win with him rushing for 66 yards on 15 carries.

Matthew Stafford was good with 278 passing yards and had two passing TDs on 24 completions. Calvin Johnson caught six passes for 116 yards with two TD receptions.

 

Vikings vs. Bears

Chicago staged a late comeback to stun Minnesota a with 31-30 victory. Jay Cutler was good for another week with 290 passing yards and three TDs. Matt Forte was great on the ground, carrying the ball 19 times for 90 yards.

Brandon Marshall caught seven passes 113 yards and one TD. Martellus Bennett caught the game-winning ball with 76 receiving yards and had two touchdowns overall.

 

Panthers vs. Bills

Buffalo won in the closing seconds of this matchup, as they shocked Carolina with a 24-23 victory. EJ Manuel had 296 passing yards with one TD on 27 completions. CJ Spiller had 16 rushes for 103 yards. Steven Johnson had eight catches for 111 yards with one receiving TD.

Cam Newton completed 21 passes for 229 yards with two passing TDs. Greg Olsen caught seven passes for 84 yards with a touchdown and Ted Ginn had 62 receiving yards with a TD as well.

 

Saints vs. Buccaneers

The Saints won 16-14 with a 27-yard game-winning field goal from Garrett Hartley over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Drew Brees did not have his best game as he threw two INTs, but he still managed 322 passing yards and one TD on 26 completions.

Jimmy Graham made fantasy owners looks smart for starting him, as he had 10 receptions for 179 yards with one TD.

Josh Freeman had a poor performance with only nine completions for 125 yards and one TD. Doug Martin was great with 144 yards on the ground as he carried the ball 29 times. Vincent Jackson had a good day with five catches for 77 receiving yards.
