FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (1/20/18): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

We have a decent sized slate this Saturday, starting off with a Thunder-Cavaliers game only the All-Day DFS-ers will be utilizing. With the Cavaliers holding down the bottom of the defensive leaderboards and the Thunder slowly meshing their way to a top 10 offense, it's going to be hard not to roster Russell Westbrook and LeBron James. That being said, Andre Roberson can prove to be a solid play for minimal pricing if you want to miraculously roster James AND Westbrook.

It has been officially one day since the Kemba Walker trade rumor has been floating around and I will be looking for Walker to either explode against the Miami backcourt or at the very least hit value. Walker doesn't seem like the type of player to flounder when the spotlight is surrounding him, so might as well capitalize in the DFS world.

FanDuel DFS Guards

Ricky Rubio - PG, vs LAC ($5,300)

The Clippers backcourt is still struggling in isolation defense, so Ricky Rubio remains an ideal play. Rubio is finding his shot and every night is a toss up whether it's falling or not. Unfortunately, the lack of transition offense from the Jazz puts a small cap on Rubio when he isn't scoring. Luckily for owners, he has been on a small uptrend lately and the matchup versus the Clippers, combined with the return of Rudy Gobert gives Rubio plenty of upside. Even when Donavon Mitchell has his shot falling, he still looks to find Rubio and Rubio is ALWAYS looking to return the favor.

Wayne Ellington - SG, @ CHA ($4,400)

As one of the top bench scorers this season, Wayne Ellington is going up against one of the more defensively susceptible bench squads in the league. The Hornets are surrounded by debate, whether its aforementioned trade rumor or the simple lack of success on the court. With a youth that is slowly developing, especially on the defensive side, you might as well play one of the more efficient shooters. Ellington gets his opportunities every game and when his three is falling, it has a positive result on the whole team, especially the mental aspect. Ellington is always coming off screens and the team anticipates his makes. This should be a big night for the veteran shooter.

Tony Snell - SG, @ PHI ($3,700)

With Giannis Antetokounmpo out, the usage will hopefully be dispersed among the other Bucks players, especially Snell, who has seen a downtrend in minutes since the hot start to his season. Snell has been a streaky scorer at best this season, but when he gets a role increase he tends to produce. His price is minimal, especially assuming he will receive around 30 minutes tonight against the 76ers. While this is a risky pick, it still has too much upside to pass on.

 

FanDuel DFS Forwards

 Robert Covington - SF, vs MIL ($5,100)

Tony Snell might be a defense-first player and an on-court twin of Robert Covington, but Covington is still the more promising and reliable pick. His shot has improved this season, mainly in part to the increase in spacing, so feel free to ride Covington is a mid-level option. He is usually one of those players you need to monitor as it is, but now that he will be relieved of guarding Antetokounmpo all night, more of his energy will be focused on offense and better production for the few who decided to play him.

Ryan Anderson - PF, vs GSW ($4,500)

This one is too easy. Ryan Anderson is a talented shooter who is able to create havoc against teams like these. As versatile as he is, he might be one of the higher owned players tonight. It does not help that Eric Gordon exploded last game, leaving the door open for other Rockets like Anderson to pick up the slack tonight. This will be a shootout between two talented teams and Anderson will be throwing up a majority of those shots.

 

FanDuel DFS Centers

Thon Maker - C, @ PHI ($3,500)

I do not understand FanDuel's regulations for positioning, but Thon Maker is listed as a center for some reason. If you feel the need to roll with an extreme value play, Maker is lined up for plenty of usage. He just needs to find a way to convert more efficiently before he start becoming a more reliable option. For now, his price is justified but he should be able to produce given an increased role and minutes.
