FanDuel MLB Lineup Picks (7/1/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

corbin burnes fantasy baseball rankings MLB news sleepers DFS lineup picks

JorgePucks highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 7/1/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We have a nice-sized Thusday slate to dissect with lots of batting and pitching options for us to consider. We have some good pitching options on this slate so we will need to figure out which one can get us a few strikeouts and a win while also choosing between some great offenses like Houston, San Diego, and Los Angeles to choose from.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 7/1/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate.

You can also check out today's FanDuels MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. Let's get to it!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Corbin Burnes - MIL @ PIT ($10,600)

While there are several big-time options on this slate, Corbin Burnes grades out as the top arm in all formats. Despite having just a 3-4 record on the year, he has a 2.62 ERA and is sporting a .94 WHIP in 68.2 innings pitched. Burnes has had at least six strikeouts in every single game this season and had just eight strikeouts against the Pirates a few weeks back. Pittsburgh has six batters that sport a strikeout percentage that is greater than 21% and carry a team ISO of just .149 against right-handed batters so this looks to be one of the safer spots to go to on the slate.

Alternate Play(s)

Framber Valdez - HOU @ CLE ($10,200)

It would have been very easy to slide deGrom in as my alternate play but between his high price tag and tough matchup, it's best to consider elsewhere that allows you to have a little more salary to work with. Framber Valdez will be on the hill for the Houston Astros as they take on the Cleveland Indians and Valdez has gotten off to a strong start this year as he is 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA and 1 WHIP in 32.1 innings pitched. He has managed to record a quality start in five out of six games pitched and gets a favorable matchup against an Indians team that is only averaging only .223 against lefties this year.

Other recommended value pitching options: Ian Anderson vs. New York Mets

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Buster Posey - 1B, SFG @ ARI ($3,000)

We are kicking it back to 2014 with this pick as Buster Posey has had a resurgence at the plate this season and could go very under the radar on this slate. Posey is slashing .303 on the year with eight home runs and carries a .326 lifetime batting average when hitting at Chase Field. Right-handed batters have an ISO of .195 against Kelly this year and he throws his sinker over 28% of the time to righties and Posey does well against this pitch as he has a .250 ISO and a .422 XwOBA against this specific pitch type.

Jake Cronenworth - 1B/2B, SDP @ CIN ($3,400)

There are several options to consider from the Padres in this matchup against Luis Castillo but Jake Cronenwroth looks to be one of the best overall options for all formats. He is at a solid price point at $3,400 and is swinging a hot bat as he has gotten a hit in 12 out of his last 13 games played while hitting six home runs and having five multi-hit performances during that 13 game span.

Jonathan India - 2B/3B, CIN vs. SDP ($3,000)

India has done a great job this year as a leadoff guy for the Reds and he does a great job of getting on base and scoring. Over his last 13 games played, India has managed to score in nine of those games while having five multi-hit performances during that stretch as well. India has been great against lefty pitchers this year as he has a .321 average against the split and Weathers has gotten roughed up by righties so roster India with confidence in all formats!

Willy Adames - SS, MIL @ PIT ($3,100)

There are a lot of good quality pay-up options at the shortstop position but if you're looking to save some salary, you could easily consider Willy Adames. Adames is hitting .296 against right-handed pitchers and righties have an ISO of .270 when it comes to facing Wil Crowe. Crowe throws two primary pitches to righties with his fastball being thrown over 42% of the time and Adames profiles pretty well against this pitch as he has a .292 ISO and a .460 XwOBA against that specific pitch type.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Nick Castellanos - OF, CIN vs. SDP ($4,400)

Casty has been one of the top hitters this season when it comes to facing left-handed pitchers and lefty Ryen Weathers will get the start for the Padres tonight. Castellanos is hitting .333 with four home runs which leads all Reds hitters against lefty pitchers while also sporting a .272 ISOand a 54.8% hard-hit rate against that handedness as well. Castellanos profiles very well against Weather's fastball as he has a .667 ISO and a .640 XwOBA so if he sees this pitch, there's a good chance he crushes it.

Trent Grisham - OF, SDP @ CIN ($3,300)

Grisham has been white-hot and is coming off of a monster night where he hit two home runs while driving in five rbi's. Grisham is hitting right-handed pitchers well as he has a .293 batting average, has a .226 ISO while having seven home runs on the season against this handedness. If Grisham draws a solid spot in the lineup he could be a popular option but for good reason so ride the hot bat.

Chris Taylor – 2B/OF, LAD @ WSH (2,800)

Taylor tends to draw a spot in the lineup when the Dodgers face a left-handed pitcher and that could be the case tonight as they go up against Patrick Corbin. Taylor is hitting .286 against lefty pitchers this season and is second on the Dodgers with four home runs against this handedness. He has a .255 ISO against lefties and righties have a .208 ISO against Corbin this season so this looks to be a solid value option on this slate. Corbin is a big sinker and slider pitcher to righties and he throws his sinker 35% of the time to right-handed batters. Taylor profiles extremely well against his sinker as he has a .421 ISO and a .494 XwOBA against this specific pitch type so look to Taylor as a solid value play in all formats.
