FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/20/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Austyn Varney highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 8/20/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Welcome to Tuesday baseball on FanDuel! We have a full 15-game slate on our hands with more than enough to go through. At pitcher, we have five aces to choose from and one has a great match-up. At hitter, there are a ton of offenses to choose from. There may be a few chalk stacks, but you can find some sub-10% stacks with a ton of potential.

On FanDuel, you'll find a tournament that fits your price range, no matter what it is. The $9.99 Rally is the featured tourney of the night, and will prize $50k to first place. Let's jump right in and find a top play at each position!

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFSVarney

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

C/1B - Clayton Kershaw - LOS vs. TOR - $12,200

There are a ton of Solid pitchers on this slate, but none run away with an easy match-up. Clayton Kershaw has the easiest match-up of the bunch, facing off with the Toronto Blue Jays at home in spacious Dodgers Stadium. The Blue Jays rank 24th in baseball against lefties with a team .315 wOBA and 26% strikeout rate. It only drops on the road. Kershaw has been a top five pitcher this season and as consistent as anyone. Kershaw has gone over six innings in 20 straight starts and he'll likely get to seven tonight. He strikes out a batter per inning and the win won't be hard to come by with Sean Reid-Foley on the opposite side.

C/1B - Aaron Sanchez - HOU vs. DET - $8,500

Aaron Sanchez hasn't necessarily been a good pitcher this season, posting a 5.10 ERA and 5.80 xFIP. He's in play tonight because the Tigers are beyond a putrid offense and are projected to put up just over three runs. He's under $9k on FanDuel and could very well go seven innings and strikeout 8-10. The Tigers rank dead last over the last 30 days against righties with a team .274 wOBA and 24% strikeout rate. They're far worse against righties and on the road, so they don't have much working for them tonight. Sanchez should have a solid game and will allow you to spend up elsewhere.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

C/1B - Anthony Rizzo - CHC vs. SF (Beede) - $4,200

There are always a ton of options at first base, and tonight is no different. Tyler Beede has been one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball this year and the Giants are riding him out. He's allowed a .340+ wOBA to both sides of the plate and has found a way to give up 17 home runs in just 80 innings of work. The Cubs beat him up just a few weeks ago an

2B - Austin Nola - SEA @ TAM (Castillo) - $2,600

Austin Nola is tearing up the major leagues. That's 11 hits and three home runs in the last six games. He's smacking both lefties and righties and the Mariners are locking him right into the heart of the order. His price is still down on FanDuel under $3k, and he now gets a match-up with Diego Castillo. He will only pitch two or three innings and he's posted a 4.02 xFIP against righties. Nola is simply too cheap on FanDuel and hard to stay away from in any format.

3B - Scott Kingery - PHI @ BOS (Johnson) - $3,600

Scott Kingery is a platoon bat that has sported a .353 wOBA against left-handers. He's a heavy pull hitter that's now stepping into Fenway Park with the short left field porch. Brian Johnson is one of the more average pitchers on the slate, and he's only expected to go a few innings. He's allowed a .341 wOBA to opposing righties and has been worse at home in Fenway Park. The Phillies are expected to put up oer five runs and Kingery will get involved.

SS - Jonathan Villar - BAL vs. KC (Keller) - $3,700

Jonathan Villar has quietly been one of the best middle-infielders in all of baseball this season. He's sported a .354 wOBA against righties with 10 home runs, 24 doubles, and three triples. Oh ya, 28 stolen bases too. He seems to be a multi-hit magnet at this point and he sees another friendly match-up with Brad Keller. Keller has allowed a .329 wOBA to righties and will now have to deal with Camden Yards. If you can get up to Villar, he's worth it.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Mike Trout - LAA @ TEX (Palumbo) - $4,900

The race between these three outfielders is a fun one and any of these guys can hit two home runs on any given night. We're going to go with Mike Trout, who's facing off with a lefty in Arlington. Globe Life Park is one of the best hitting environments in baseball and it's why the Angels are projected for over six runs. Palumbo has climbed the ranks this year with a deadly K/9, but he walks 3+ batters per nine and struggles with the long ball. Trout is my favorite outfielder on the slate, but you can't go wrong with Yelich or Bellinger either.

Jason Heyward - CHC vs. SFG (Beede) - $3,200

Jason Heyward has been a great hitter against righties this season. After adjusting to the shift in 2018, Heyward has sported a .365 wOBA with 16 home runs against right-handers. He'll be in the leadoff hole once again, where he often gets five at-bats and driven in every time he gets on-base. Heyward is affordable on FanDuel and a great way to get exposure to this high upside Cubs lineup.
