FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (4/23/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Tom Vecchio's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 4/23/19. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

We are finally here. The NHL Playoffs are here and the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup is upon us and we have three games on the second day to keep things going. Smaller slates mean fewer options at each position, but a chance to take a stand on your favorite plays.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/23/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

John Tavares - C, TOR @ BOS (FD - $7,600, DK - $6,400)

Tavares has been a none factor in the past two games, you might not even know he was on the ice. From an eye test perspective, Tavares didn't do much and from a fantasy perspective, he only had six shots in the past two games. Really not enough when he is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, along with paying a premium price. There is really nothing else to say here, Tavares choose the Maple Leafs last summer to be in big spots like this and now he has to show up.

Reilly Smith - W, VGK @ SJ (FD - $5,900, DK - $5,400)

Smith has been legit good for the Golden Knights who are also in a Game 7 tonight and they will need that same level of production from him in order to win this game. He has 17 shots in the last four games and three points in that span, making him one of the more consistent options for the Golden Knights. Win or go home for them and the Sharks tonight, so we will see all the top players getting plenty of ice time.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Charlie McAvoy - D, BOS vs TOR (FD - $5,000, DK - $5,200)

McAvoy has three points over the past three games, along with four shots and three blocked shots. It's really simple tonight, you need scoring from every position and with McAvoy being modestly priced, along with him being on the second power-play unit, he offers some of the best point per dollar upside.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic - D, SJ vs VGK (FD - $4,600, DK - $3,700)

Vlasic returned from his injury but didn't return to the second power-play unit, which should have him going a bit overlooked even on a two-game slate. You take the savings and sacrifice a bit of upside with Vlasic, so you are able to spend up on an expensive stack like the Bruins top line or the Maple Leafs top line. He does have one assist since return and with this being one of the higher scoring series, the points could be there.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Tuukka Rask - G, BOS vs TOR (FD - $8,600, DK - $7,900)

Rask and the Bruins come in as -145 home favorites, which is the larger of the two home favorites tonight. Hopefully, this means he is in a spot to come away with the win slightly easier since the Golden Knights have shown plenty of fight on the road against the Sharks. Rask has over 30 saves in three of the six games in this series.
