FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (4/22/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Chris Wassel's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 4/22/19. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

It is Monday and yes, there are two Game 6 showdowns on the horizon. Can Carolina and Nashville avoid elimination or will Washington and Dallas punch their ticket(s) to round number two?

Remember, when picking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. The expectation of lower-scoring games is elevated on this slate. There is a tendency to see teams play tighter in the later stages of series. See Vegas on Sunday night as Exhibit A. They could not finish and lost in double overtime despite 58 shots on net (119 shot attempts).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/22/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Tyler Seguin - C, DAL vs NSH (FD - $8,400, DK - $7,300)

Nashville could not contain the Dallas top line of Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Alexander Radulov on Saturday. As hard as they tried, that top Dallas line made them pay again and again and again. Three goals were scored in all and Seguin had a goal, assist, plus eight shots on net. When a line creates double-digit scoring chances, it is difficult not to notice it. How does Nashville adjust in Game 6? Can they? Either way, Tyler Seguin plays all in and will fire pucks on goal from anywhere and everywhere.

Teuvo Teravainen - W, CAR vs WSH  (FD - $6,200, DK - $5,200)

Monday night features quite a few ways to map out a roster. One of them could be playing Teravainen. His first two home games saw 16+ FanDuel points and two real-world points. He looked like a different hockey player -- generating scoring chances and shots with ease. Seven shots and six scoring chances at home compared to seven shots and just three scoring chances on the road. The difference does not seem to be that much but the quality in chances is. When it is three to one in high danger chances, the number gains significance. Teravainen's speed will cause issues for Washington's maligned defensive core.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs WSH (FD - $5,800, DK - $5,500)

Hamilton carries the risk on Monday night against Washington. However, his upside could be immense. Remember, he scored twice in Game 3. His floor can be around five shots and blocked shots per contest so that is not awful. The price hovers in the upper echelon and one other red flag is ice time deployment on the second power-play unit. Despite that, at even strength, Hamilton remains Carolina's most dynamic offensive threat.

Ryan Ellis - D, NSH vs DAL (FD - $4,800, DK - $4,700)

Ellis does not have the floor of tonight's top defenseman. However, he does have three assists in five games and presents as a sneaky, mid-priced play on Monday night. Roman Josi and John Carlson will be high-owned because of their floors alone. Most will spend up to feel safe. On the other hand, taking a risk here or there might benefit. Ellis had several scoring chances during Game 5 and his shot is still well above average. Miro Heiskanen is another mid-priced option from the blueline that should be looked at despite some meager numbers of late.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Petr Mrazek - G, BOS vs TOR (FD - $7,700, DK - $6,900)

Mrazek comes in as almost a must play in some lineups because he is the lowest priced starting goaltender and is at home. Home has been king in the Carolina-Washington series and Mrazek has yielded just a goal in two starts. The DraftKings price may make him a chalk play on Monday night alone. Even after the 6-0 rout in Game 5, there is no doubt Mrazek will be in net for Game 6. If there is another option to consider, it probably has to be Ben Bishop as he provides the best chance of a win.
