FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (2/5/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Tom Vecchio's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 2/5/19. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

We have a MASSIVE 12-game slate tonight, which is the most we've seen this side of the All-Star break, so there are plenty of options to pick from. If you are playing multiple lineups tonight, you will have a great time matching line stacks since we are in for plenty of offense.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 2/5/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Connor McDavid - C, EDM vs CHI (FD - $8,800, DK - $7,800)

I'm not saying McDavid is "cheap" tonight, but he is a few hundred dollars less than he has been in recent games, so anytime you have another reason to roster him, you should be doing so. He is facing off against the Blackhawks, who are actually playing better as of late but are still dead last in the league in the number of high-danger scoring chances allowed per game at 13.49. McDavid has legitimate multi-point upside every night, which should be able to shine through against this opposing defense.

Nick Bjugstad - W, PIT vs CAR (FD - $4,500, DK - $3,500)

Bjugstad has looked solid since his trade to the Penguins and is now the center on the second line since Malkin is out with an injury. It should be noted that he is center eligible on DraftKings but still a winger on FanDuel. The Penguins come in as -170 home favorites and this game has an over-under set at 6.5 goals, so we should be seeing plenty of offense from them and with Bjugstad now on the second power-play unit, he should have ample opportunities vs the Hurricanes who are giving up 11.15 high-danger scoring chances per game.

Max Domi - C, MON vs ANH (FD - $6,000, DK - $5,600)

Domi is the center on the second forward line and the second power-play for the Canadiens who are in a great spot tonight and can be used in cash games or GPPs. They are in a great spot since they are up against the Ducks, who are third worst in the league in terms of Corsi Against sitting at 59.98. They are also giving up the second most high-danger scoring chances per game at 12.87, meaning they are a great team to attack. This is a solid place to find a player who isn't expensive and brings a solid floor of points.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Victor Hedman - D, TB vs VGK (FD - $6,500, DK - $5,900)

Hedman is still just slightly under 6K on DraftKings tonight and I want to be playing him as much as I can. He has six points in his last five games and is still up on the first power-play unit for the always dangerous first power-play. They are up against Vegas tonight, who has looked a bit rough around the edges since the return from the All-Star break and thus, we have an over-under set at 6.5 goals in this game, which is very high. More of a GPP option to stack with Stamkos and Kucherov, which brings you a massive ceiling of points.

Zach Werenski - D, CLS @ COL (FD - $5,100, DK - $4,700)

Werenski and the Blue Jackets come in as -120 road favorites against a struggling Colorado team in what should be a very high-scoring game, so plenty of fantasy value to be had on both sides. Werenski is averaging over two shots per game this season along with one blocked shot per game, giving him a nice floor of points. He is also on the first power-play for the Blue Jackets, which gets you cheaper exposure to Panarin and Atkinson, something that is always a plus and gives you some nice upside for his cheaper price.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Braden Holtby - G, WAS vs VAN (FD - $8,500, DK - $8,200)

Holtby and the Capitals are struggling right now and they need a "get right" type of game, which hopefully, comes tonight versus the Canucks who are on the second night of a back to back. This has the Capitals coming in as -205 favorites and should also be facing off against the Canucks backup goalie. It will probably be the same story for Holtby as we've seen over the past few seasons, he can come away with the win but will give up a few goals in the process.
