FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (1/18/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

We have a BIG 10 game slate tonight, and there are good options on the board. Stacking will be big tonight, so look for some value where you can, and then load up on the star skaters where you can afford them.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/18/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Mika Zibanejad - C, NYR vs BUF (DK - $6,500, FD - $6,400)

Zibanejad is on the first forward line and the first power-play for the unit, and is now up against the Sabres, who are giving up over three goals a game. Anytime you can get extra ice time against a bad defensive team, you should take it. His potential for points is very high tonight considering the match up. You can use him in cash games, or stack up the power-play unit, to try and maximize points. He is taking just under three shots per game and has two goals over his last four games.

Mikko Rantanen - W, COL vs SJ (DK - $6,100, FD - $7,200)

Rantanen makes a bit of a contrarian play tonight, since he is up against the Sharks, who are one of the better defensive teams in the league. He is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, so plenty of point potential if they can break through the defense. I would use him in a stack for GPPs since he is a bit of a riskier play tonight. The Avalanche have won seven games in a row, and in those games, they have put up 29 goals, which is an average of four a game. Lot of production coming from them, so I'll take the low owned upside with the Sharks coming into the altitude.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Mikhail Sergachev - D, TB vs VGK (DK - $5,000, FD - $4,600)

The top defensemen for the Lightning, Victor Hedman, is out with an injury, so Sergachev has been moved up to the first power-play unit. He price has yet to be full adjusted, so we want to take advantage of the cheaper price while we can. He is taking about two shots per game, and blocking almost one shot per game. Great in any format tonight, and with his lower price, it will be slightly easier for you to fit in that top Tampa stack. He has plenty of upside since he is now on the top line, and I'm ready to buy in now.

Roman Josi - D, NSH vs. ARI (DK - $6,600, FD - $5,800)

Josi is on the first defensive pairing and the first power-play unit, and is in a prime spot tonight. He is up against the Coyotes, who are one of the worst teams in the league, along with giving up over three goals per game. He is a great cash game play, since he sees over 20 minutes per game, and has plenty of chances to rack up points. Josi is taking over three shots per game, blocking over one shot per game, and has two points in his last two games.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Ben Bishop - G, DAL @ CLS (DK - $7,600, FD - $8,800)

Bishop seems a bit too cheap on DraftKings tonight, and makes a good GPP option. Road goalies aren't my favorite to target, but the Blue Jackets have been a bit up and down lately, so not a bad spot to target them. Bishop has three wins in his last four games, and with a full slate of games, you shouldn't be worried about his  ownership, as it should be low. The Stars play great defense, so they should be able to help him pick up the win.
