FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (11/5/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Tuesday features 11 games in all with a spotlight on games like Carolina and Philadelphia, Toronto and Los Angeles, plus even San Jose and Chicago.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/5/19. DFS Forwards to Consider

Elias Pettersson - C, VAN vs STL (FD - $7,400, DK - $7,100)

Pettersson is a fun, late GPP option on Tuesday night that one cannot get away from. St. Louis has been a little more porous defensively than it appears on the surface. On the road, they are a bottom third team when it comes to allowing scoring chances. Pettersson is a chance demon and those are hard to find on some slates. Also, the center has 14 real-world points in his previous seven games. Game, set, and play!

David Pastrnak - W, BOS vs MON  (FD - $9,200, DK - $8,500)

The winger keeps going and has another prime matchup versus the Montreal Canadiens. Pastrnak continued his streak with another goal and assist along with five shots against Pittsburgh on Monday night. No one ever knows when these kinds of runs will truly end but Pastrnak is automatic right now. He hit the shot bonus on DraftKings again last night and nearly topped 30 FanDuel points once again. The only reason why his price did not jump was that he is on the back end of a back-to-back.

Also, Consider: 

  • Sean Couturier, John Tavares (if he plays), and even Mark Scheifele could be viable plays on Tuesday night.
  • Sebastian Aho, Matthew Tkachuk, and Patrick Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this large slate.

 

DFS Defenders to Consider

Drew Doughty - D, LAK vs TOR (FD - $5,900, DK - $6,000)

Doughty faces Toronto (err gets to go home) on Tuesday night. He has ten points in 14 games on the season. Doughty has 30+ shots and nearly 30 blocks on the season already and is going up against a Toronto team that allows over three goals a game at home and 30+ shots with ease. The defenseman quarterbacks a power-play that can be sneaky good. It is little surprise why Doughty's price is where it is. He is back! Hint: he fills a lot of categories and has hit the shot and blocks bonus several times this year already.

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs PHI (FD - $6,600, DK - $7,000)

Hamilton, like John Carlson, is someone who cannot sneak into a lineup anymore. He combined for five shots and blocked shots in an off night for him against New Jersey on Saturday. Even then, he had four scoring chances and hit the crossbar. Philadelphia can be a wild team to play against and there should be plenty of opportunities for offense and yes, blocked shots too. Hamilton is the top-priced defenseman on DraftKings and second in FanDuel. Talk about some respect.

Also, Consider:

  • Jeff Petry and Johnny Boychuk enjoy plus-matchups and are very reasonably priced due to category filling potential.
  • Nate Schmidt and Sami Vatanen are solid, value plays (under $4,500) on Tuesday night. Also, do keep in mind Vatanen will be moderately owned at least because of the matchup.

 

DFS Goalie to Consider

David Rittich - G, DAL vs MIN (FD - $8,600, DK - $8,100)

The thought process was to look at a goalie who faces a team that played last night. Rittich fits the bell and plays against an Arizona team that had to go extra time to defeat Edmonton. Arizona is a team that can generate close to 30 shots and that was considered as well. The Calgary goalie carries considerable risk (allowed five goals three times in the last half dozen games). However, he does come off a 43-save shutout against Columbus on Saturday.

Also, Consider:

  • The other good GPP choices on Tuesday night include Connor Hellebuyck and Jacob Markstrom. They carry a lot of risks but are lower-priced especially on FanDuel (both at or under $8,000).
