FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (11/21/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Thursday features 13 games in all with a spotlight on games like Philadelphia and Carolina, Nashville and Vancouver, plus even Vegas and San Jose.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as scoring is still trending upward this time of the season.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/21/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs MIN (FD - $8,800, DK - $8,400)

Colorado is channeling their entire offense through MacKinnon and he keeps responding. He has 16 points in his last ten games and that includes a hand in two more goals (both assists) on Tuesday night. MacKinnon fired five or more shots yet again which feels like a broken record. Though Minnesota is better at home, the Colorado center will keep getting his chances (four more on Tuesday). It does not matter who his linemates are, MacKinnon is off to some start -- averaging nearly 1.5 real-world points per game. Connor McDavid playing in Los Angeles will be the likely "chalk" if you will.

David Pastrnak - W, BOS vs BUF  (FD - $9,100, DK - $8,500)

The winger keeps on producing. Pastrnak scored two goals on Tuesday in New Jersey on a half-dozen shots. He has 5+ shots on net in three of his previous four contests. Overall, that is 46 shots on 77 attempts for the right-winger. With Pastrnak, it is all about the volume. When he is on his game, the numbers keep going on. He faces Buffalo tonight, who has one of the worst penalty kills in all of hockey. That would qualify as a slightly plus matchup.

Also, Consider:

  • Auston Matthews, Tyler Seguin, Jack Eichel, and even Evgeni Malkin could be viable plays on Thursday night.
  • Leon Draisaitl, Filip Forsberg, and Evander Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this big slate.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Oskar Klefbom - D, EDM vs LAK (FD - $5,700, DK - $6,300)

Klefbom has some risk in the fact that he has no scored in over ten games. However, he does have eight assists in that span on 21 shots and averages nearly four blocks a game. His price is just a little bit off from the highest of defensemen echelons but not by much. Los Angeles ranks in the bottom third in so much defensively including DFS points allowed to defensemen that one has to find a place for Klefbom somewhere.

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs PHI (FD - $6,800, DK - $6,800)

Hamilton keeps firing 3.5 shots per game on the net, at around seven attempts, and is a point-a-game player right now. He has to be rostered against Philadelphia on Thursday night (just for shots and block potential). Also, he has three goals and eight assists in his previous ten games (that includes four special teams points). Without John Carlson on the slate, Hamilton almost becomes the best err steadiest option on Thursday night.

Also, Consider:

  • Cale Makar and Miro Heiskanen (ten points in ten games) both enjoy plus-matchups and are very reasonably priced due to category filling potential.
  • Alex Edler is always there but again still at an elevated price on Thursday night. Matt Grzelcyk from Boston is one to watch. His increased shot volume over the past five or six games is on our radar and should be on yours as well.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Connor Hellebuyck - G, WPG vs DAL (FD - $8,400, DK - $7,100)

The rationale was just looking at potential high-save outputs and then something got blown out of the water. Look closely at the computer screen and oh that DraftKings price. Yes, that is not a misprint. Venue pricing in a large slate happens often and though Hellebuyck has lower chances at a win, he has a higher probability of stopping 35 or more shots. Hellebuyck is also 6-3-1 in his previous ten decisions while facing nearly 34 shots per 60. Winnipeg gives up a good bit of offense, especially on the road.

Also, Consider:

  • See if Alex Stalock is starting for Minnesota. Again, he is another risky play but low-priced. Also, is this the night Sergei Bobrovsky begins to snap out of it? There are a few other choices that will be available on social media as roster lock approaches.
