FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (1/17/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Back to the normal flow of things for the NHL and have a 7-game slate tonight, which should provide enough options for both cash games and GPPS.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/17/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nikita Kucherov - W, TB vs TOR (FD - $9,100)

Kucherov has gone two straight games without scoring a point, everyone panic. Oddly enough, this is unlike him since he leads the league in points and is averaging 1.5 points per game. We have an over-under set at 6.5 goals tonight, as they are up against the Maple Leafs in what should be absolutely fantastic to watch. Despite their strong record, the Maple Leafs are actually third worst in the league when it comes to Corsi Against, meaning they are giving up a ton of shots every game. This presents Kurcerov and the Lightning offense with a solid base for scoring tonight.

Eric Staal - C, MIN vs ANH (FD - $6,000, DK - $5,400)

Staal and the Wild should be very popular tonight since they are up against the Ducks who are on a 12-game losing streak and simply look like one of the worst teams in the league. Staal is very reasonably priced on DraftKings tonight and is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, giving him plenty of offensive point scoring equity. The Ducks are fourth worst in the league when it comes to Corsi Against and third worst in the league in the number of high danger scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Tony DeAngelo - D, NYR vs CHI (FD - $3,500, DK - $4,100)

We have an original six matchup tonight, but both teams are near the bottom of the league overall, along with several defensive categories. Another game with an over-under set at 6.5 goals, which should provide us with plenty of upside to go after in DFS. DeAngelo is very cheap across the industry and playing on the second power-play unit for the Rangers, which gives him some solid point per dollar value. He is talking about two shots per game while blocking over one shot per game which is solid production for a player that cheap.

Nick Leddy - D, NYI vs NJ (FD - $4,500, DK - $4,400)

Leddy is another cheap option at defense tonight who comes in with a nice shot at some upside with his role on the first power-play unit, which gets who exposure to Barzal. Leddy has six assists in his last nine games, eight shots and 13 blocked shots in that span. Great in a stack but can also be used as a low-end cash game play if you need the salary relief.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Tuukka Rask - G, BOS vs STL (FD - $9,000, DK - $8,200)

Rask has already been confirmed as the starter for tonight's game since they are on the second night of a back to back, which has them coming in as -170 home favorites versus the Blues. He should be a near lock to come away with the win and should be in for a bounce-back game after how bad they looked last night. He has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his last six starts, which is why he is among the most expensive goals on the slate.
