FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers & Advice for 5/23/15

Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Saturday, May 23rd. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.

Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s Premium DFS Lineup Picks & Tools help you get an edge for your FanDuel lineups with exclusive access to DFS tools and expert lineup picks. Also our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool helps you analyze today’s matchups and make optimal lineup decisions.

Last Saturday’s Review

Last Saturday we played the Late $15K Sat MLB Squeeze #2. Here is how we did:

Entry: $2

Winnings: $5

Saturdays For the Season: +$11.08 (210.8%)

Pick Highlights: Max Scherzer put the team on his back racking up 22 of our 39.25 total points. He's been dominant this season and I won't hesitate to continue using him. Jay Bruce, my "best bet to go deep," did just that resulting in a 6.5 point day to carry the offense. My sleeper of the day, J.J. Hardy, failed miserably for me, but other cheap bets such as Adam Eaton paid off. All in all though, we owe this one to Scherzer.

Relationship Status: "Should we start a joint savings account?"

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel

Chris Sale (SP, CWS) - $10,000

Sale has struggled a bit this year with a 4+ ERA, but his FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) indicates that he's been better than the traditional statistics portray. Sale goes up against a young Minnesota Twins lineup at home in a game that the Sox should win. His price point is high, but not as rich as it's been in the past, so jump on Sale before he starts pitching like the Cy Young candidate he is.

A.J. Burnett (SP, PIT) - $8,800

Burnett is my cheaper choice for the day for the sole reason that he is facing a struggling Mets lineup. A few Mets have decent records against him (Lagares - .357, Murphy - .333), but for the most part he owns the Mets middle of the lineup (Cuddyer, Granderson, and Duda all hit below .240 against Burnett). I think Burnett pitches into the 7th, racks up some K's and has a good chance at the W.

DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel

Willie Bloomquist (SS, SEA) - $2,200

This could be the "sleeper of the week" pick, but I don't think Bloomquist has the high ceiling that I like for that pick. However, he does own opposing starter Mark Buehrle. Bloomquist is hitting .455 in 44 career at-bats against the lefty which means he should be on base and scoring runs. For the price, he's a nice option at shortstop.

Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS) - $3,000

He didn't help me out much last weekend, but I'm going to stick with him. As of Friday night, Pedroia is the 23rd most expensive 2B on FanDuel. Of those 23, Pedroia outscores more than half of them making him an amazing value.

Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) - $4,100

.345 with 9 HR and 17 doubles. That's all you need to know about Gonzalez thus far this year. Not to mention he has an incredibly favorable matchup against Ian Kennedy at home tomorrow. He has 3 career HR against Kennedy and I am picking Gonzalez as my best bet to hit a HR today.

DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel

Matt Holliday (OF, STL) - $3,500

Holliday has reached base in all 40 games this season! Read that again, it's incredible. He just snapped his 20+ game hit streak, but he's getting it done on a day in day out basis. The power is still lacking a bit, with just 3 HR on the season, but he's remarkably consistent, hits in a good lineup, and will continue to post 3+ points per day.

Alex Gordon (OF, KC) - $3,2oo

Gordon is a nice value and has a great history against today's opposing starter John Lackey. He has a home run and is hitting .462 in 13 career at-bats. Granted, that's a small sample size, but I like Gordon as a value play in the outfield today.

Bryce Harper (OF, WAS) - $6,000

Harper isn't going to quite make it into my lineup today because of his price point, but if you can afford it go ahead and get him in there. He's the hottest hitter in baseball and will be hair flipping his way to another big day.

FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day

Andre Ethier (OF, LAD) - $2,600

Ethier has really rebounded this season hitting .304 with 5 HR while filling in full time for a flurry of injured Dodgers. He also crushes today's opposing pitcher Ian Kennedy, .361 with 3 HR in 36 career at-bats. Grab Ethier cheap at home in this favorable matchup.
