FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers & Advice for 4/19/15

Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful. So, without further ado, my picks for Sunday April 12th.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s Premium DFS Lineup Picks & Tools help you get an edge for your FanDuel lineups with exclusive access to DFS tools and expert lineup picks. Also our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool helps you analyze today’s matchups and make optimal lineup decisions.

WARNING - There is rain in the area for a lot of the games this afternoon. Check out our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool to get a feel for which games have a chance of rain and make sure to stay up to date on the status of these games so that you don't get a goose egg in your lineup.

Offense to Target for FanDuel DFS

Boston Red SoxFor the second day in a row, Vegas has put the highest over/under on the Red Sox and Orioles game (8.5 runs). No surprise there as both offenses have gotten off to hot starts. Don't let yesterday's 4-1 affair fool you. These teams combined for 20 hits on Saturday and I'd expect more of the same this afternoon. Load up on Red Sox.

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel

I like expensive starting pitching today. I don't think there is value in the cheaper pitching this afternoon and I think you're putting yourself in too much of a hole if you don't grab one of these guys.

Adam Wainwright (SP, STL) - $9,400

There are a lot of big names taking the mound today, but none have been more consistent over the years than Wainwright. Wainwright has actually struggled in his career against the Cincinnati Reds, but on Sunday Night Baseball Wainwright generally shines.

Matt Harvey (SP, NYM) - $10,500

Harvey is most certainly back. He's won each of his first two starts striking out 17 batters in total in just 12 innings. Today, Harvey goes up against the exciting young Miami Marlins lineup. The Marlins can definitely do some damage, but they also strikeout a lot (4th most in the league going into Sunday) so I expect more of the same from Harvey. He hasn't gone past 95 pitches yet this season which means it's going to be tough for him to pitch into the seventh inning, but double digit strikeouts is certainly in play regardless of how long he's able to go.

DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel

Since we got pricey with our pitching here are some lower tier options that I think will still produce.

Erick Aybar (SS, LAA) - $2,900

Aybar absolutely crushes opposing pitcher Scott Feldman. In 31 career at-bats Aybar is hitting .452. Yes, .452. He's slated to hit sixth in the lineup today which should mean some RBI chances when he comes to the plate.

Rickie Weeks (2B, SEA) - $2,500

If you look at Weeks' early season numbers, it would seem as if he has gotten off to a terrible start. That's not completely wrong, but you have to remember that Weeks was brought into Seattle to hit left handed pitching. He's basically a platoon player at this point and while his overall batting average of .174 is miserable, he's been good against lefties this season and he faces a very mediocre one today in Ross Detwiler. Weeks is 4 for 13 against lefties thus far this season and his only HR came against a left handed pitcher. This game isn't played until 4pm EST, so you'll have to make sure that Weeks is in the lineup, but I can't see manager Lloyd McClendon ever sitting Weeks against a lefty.

DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel

Rajai Davis (OF, DET) - $3,300

Davis comes into today with a .393 OBP. Why is this important? Because he hits atop the Detroit Tigers lineup and is generally on base when the best hitter in baseball, Miguel Cabrera, comes to the plate. He also hits today's opposing pitcher, Jose Quintana, very well registering a .385 batting average in 26 career at-bats. Davis will do more of the same today, hitting Quintana around, getting on base, creating some havoc on the base paths and eventually getting knocked in by Miggy.

Brett Gardner (OF, NYY) - $3,400

Brett Gardner, when healthy, just continues to get it done while being criminally undervalued. He's hitting .296 in the early season and getting on base at a torrid pace. Today he faces Matt Andriese, a pitcher he's never seen before, but the Yankees bats are heating up in Tampa and playing in the dome, there is no chance for a rain out as there is with many of today's afternoon games. Get Gardner in your lineups.

FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day

Torii Hunter (OF, MIN) - $2,800

Hunter is going for his usual cheap price today and I'll snap this deal up seven days a week. While the skills have obviously eroded with age, Hunter can still hit left handed pitching. He goes up against TJ House today, a lefty that he's never seen, but House doesn't offer up anything too special from a "stuff" standpoint. Hunter is in the 2-slot today for the Twinkies and should be able to get on base for the middle of the lineup.

Today I’ll be playing in the $6K MLB Bunt which starts at 1:05 pm EST
