Dynasty Risers and Fallers: Prescott, Cooper, Jeudy

Dak Prescott - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

RosterWatch provides dynasty football league news and updates all offseason, including a weekly look at value risers and fallers. This time, we look at QB Dak Prescott, WR Amari Cooper, and WR Jerry Jeudy.

This column was written by Alan Seslowsky (@alanseslowksy) and provided to RotoBaller by our friends at RosterWatch.

Each week, this column provides you with movement in the RosterWatch Dynasty Rankings. We highlight players who have gained or lost value recently.

Tracking these player value trends assists dynasty players in identifying opportunities to improve their rosters, as the landscape of the market is ever-changing.

Editor's Note: Identify fantasy football draft busts, overvalued ADPs, and key players to avoid so you can draft with confidence this season.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Age: 27
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: QB7
Updated Rank: QB4

Prior to his season-ending injury in 2020, Dak Prescott was on a record-setting pace in fantasy football. Dak was averaging over 40 fantasy points in the four full games he played. From watching the Dallas games early last year, it looked like Dak was scratching the surface of his fantasy upside. Rookie CeeDee Lamb was an every-week starter; it is tantalizing to think what he could have brought to Dak’s fantasy value once he got comfortable in the NFL.

There is no denying Dak’s gruesome injury had early dynasty startup drafters skeptical on his return in 2021. All of those fears were put to rest when the Cowboys gave Dak the big-time contract he had been looking for. The signal is that Dallas is confident Prescott will be back to 100% in short order. Dak’s Superflex startup ADP has gone from 15th overall in January, 12th overall in February, to ninth overall in March. RosterWatch can endorse taking Dak as high as QB2. We have ranked him as the QB4, only behind Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Kyler Murray

Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys

Age: 26
Movement: Falling
Previous Rank: WR13
Updated Rank: WR17

It may seem strange that we are elevating Dak Prescott up the dynasty startup rankings as we are lowering Dak’s WR1, Amari Cooper, at the same time. Cooper moving down the ranks slightly is not a knock against his talent. RosterWatch believes Cooper is still a sound dynasty investment. The slight tick down the ranks is due to the opportunity that may be forthcoming.

CeeDee Lamb is a better player than Amari, and can safely be projected to take the next step in his development. Tight end Blake Jarwin is coming back and should be in line for a healthy share of targets. Running back Tony Pollard should also see more targets in the passing game. Cooper’s contract does not prohibit the Cowboys from moving on in 2022. With that uncertainty looming, there is reason to let Cooper “fall” to you in drafts. Amari Cooper could be catching passes from a sub-optimal QB for the late peak of his career. In redraft leagues, RosterWatch will have Cooper ranked as a fringe WR1, but dynasty is a game played in two to three-year windows.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

Age: 22
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: WR28
Updated Rank: WR22

Dynasty managers who drafted Jerry Jeudy were disappointed in 2020. Most have not written Jeudy off as a bust, but are mildly concerned when they see how Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb performed. A closer look at the 2020 game film shows that Jeudy is getting open routinely. Drew Lock simply did not make the read and subsequent throws. It is not a secret that Denver is actively trying to upgrade at QB. The Aaron Rodgers rumors are still circulating, and the Broncos brought in Teddy Bridgewater.

We wanted Drew Lock to happen, but it seems unlikely that he will be a starting QB in the NFL. This conclusion is a reason to boost Jeudy slightly up the ranks. His disappointing rookie season is a buying opportunity rather than a cause for concern.
