NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/2/24

The 2023-2024 season is approaching its crucial stages with the NHL trade deadline in six days!! Who will be buyers and who will be sellers as the race to the Stanley Cup goes full throttle?

Tonight we have an eight-game slate and four teams playing on a back-to-back: Ottawa, Washington, Dallas and Los Angeles. The currently live top-three highest implied team totals are: Dallas with 4.6, Tampa Bay with 4.1 and Philadelphia with 3.5. I will do my best to guide you through this eight-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen- DK $7.5K || FD $7.6K

Opponent - Vegas Golden Knights

This slate is less than appealing at the goalie position, ultimately landing on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Vegas is not the best team when assessing Shot Per Goal Per 60 value, however, there aren't many matchups that offer that value on the slate to begin with. In the last five games, Luukkonen has a 4-1 record with a 1.96 Goals Against Average and a 0.933 Save Percentage. He is also in the top 15 goalies in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 in the last ten games. Vegas does have their struggles and Luukkonen has proven multiple times over the last month that he can steal games.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Forsberg (DK $7.3K || FD $7.1K)
  • Sorokin (DK $7.2K || FD $7.2K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Brayden Point - DK $7.1K || FD $8.1K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Tampa Bay is in arguably the best matchup on the slate outside of Dallas at home against San Jose. Cayden Primeau is slated to start in net and he is in the bottom ten in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 over the last ten games. Furthermore, Montreal as a whole are in the bottom ten in all meaningful stats against, excluding Shots Against Per 60, in their last ten games, excluding splits. Brayden Point in his last five appearances, has three goals, three assists, 19 shots and one blocked shot. Since Brandon Hagel’s promotion back to the top line, Point has been firing on all cylinders and tonight's matchup at home shouldn't be any different.

Charlie Coyle - DK $4.8K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - New York Islanders

Coyle is very well a contender for value play of the night. The centerman has found his way back on the top line for the Boston Bruins and he has a great matchup to showcase his skills with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak once more. In Couple's most recent five games, he has three goals, two assists, eight shots and one blocked shot. The Islanders have improved immensely on defense, but will it be enough to stop the high-scoring Bruins.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Voronkov (DK $4.2K || FD $4.9K)
  • Stankoven (DK $3.5K || FD $K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Joe Pavelski - DK $5.3K || FD $6.9K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Thanks to the inconsistency of Pavelski this season, he is at one of the lowest salaries of the season. However, he has found form in his last five games, producing two goals, two assists, ten shots and four blocked shots. He also has the best matchup on the slate, hosting the San Jose Sharks. For just over five thousand dollars on DraftKings, Pavelski is sitting at the top of value charts tonight.

Reilly Smith - DK $3.7K || FD $4.1K

Opponent - Calgary Flames

Reilly Smith is as big of a bust as it gets when assessing trades and acquisitions from the off-season. The winger is on the verge of having his worst overall season of his career, despite playing with Evgeni Malkin all year. Due to the amount of injuries piling up in Pittsburgh, Smith has landed a role on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Rickard Rakell. In two and half games since the promotion, Smith has two assists, six shots and five blocked shots. All of a sudden his production has seen a massive uptick and it comes as no surprise. Calgary just traded away their top defensive defenseman, leaving a big gap on the blueline. Can Smith and the Penguins take advantage?

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Marchand (DK $6.5K || FD $6.7K)
  • Hagel (DK $5.7K || FD $6.8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Miro Heiskanen - DK $5.4K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Value is hard to find at defense tonight, when assessing shots and blocked shots. However, Heiskanen has a premium matchup at home against the Sharks. San Jose is the worst team in stats against Per 60 in the last ten games, excluding splits and if not for the goaltending, they would be losing by four or five goals a night. Heiskanen and the Stars are expected to have s big game tonight. Throughout Heiskanen’s last five games, he has three assists, eights shots and four blocked shots.

Darren Raddysh - DK $3K || FD $3.7K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Raddysh is the punt play of the slate. He has a favorable matchup at home against the Montreal Canadiens. Despite Raddysh’s role on the top pairing and as the quarterback of the second power-play unit, he has struggled to produce. Over his most recent five outings, he has one assist, four shots and nine blocked shots. Can he break out of his rut and deliver a solid performance tonight?

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Pietrangelo (DK $5.5K || FD $6.4K)
  • Pettersson (DK $3.9K || FD $4.5K)
