DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks (12/9/24): NHL DFS Lineups

Artemi Panarin - NHL DFS Lineup Picks, Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks

Jon Irvin's NHL DFS picks for today's contests on FanDuel and DraftKings. Use Jon's picks to win money playing NHL DFS on 12/9/24.

Hey, RotoBallers! I want to introduce myself formally. My name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels and know I love breaking down DFS slates, especially in the MLB and NHL. I enjoy the deep dumpster diving, so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low-owned, overlooked, and unwanted plays.

I predominantly play on DraftKings, so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system, but a good spot is a good spot regardless of platform.

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends. We're so glad you could attend. Come inside! Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, December 9th, 2024, at 7:00 PM EDT. We have a traditional small 3-game slate today with a few interesting spots.

DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS Picks: First Look Stats

After reading this, jump into the RotoBaller Discord NHL channel and chat with all the other great minds about today's slate. Don’t forget to check out our valuable NHL tools, including the NHL DFS Heat Map. I've begun to implement my personal trend chart. This looks at the average between the L25 and L10, weighing the L10 heavier to help find certain positive or negative trends.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Value in net is key on DK with a three-point bonus at the 35-save mark. We can afford to give up an extra goal or two if our goalie can see a steady shot volume against him. Those extra few hundred can get us those top-line forwards.

Lukas Dostal - DK $7.5K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Yawn, yet another Monday and yet another slate with Dostal in the net for the Ducks. It's almost a reliability factor with this guy. In his 15 starts, he's reached the 30 save mark nine times, along with hitting 2x value on DK 10 times. With ceiling games in the 40-save range, I'll continue hanging my hat on inexpensive consistency.

Others to consider:  Jonathan Quick (DK $8.4K || FD $8.0K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Jiri Kulich - DK $3.3K || FD $4.2K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

Newly constructed BUF3 has their youngster centering the line with JJ Peterka and Dylan Cozens. They come into tonight with next to nothing in terms of TOI together, but they all have a promising spot hosting Detroit, which allows a fair share of shots.

Cozens is listed as a C on both DK and FD, making a full line stack tough to fit, but also should come with little ownership. Kulich enters with metrics in his favor and an expectancy to light the lamp soon. Finding time on the 2nd PP unit also adds another avenue towards success.

Others to consider:  Dylan Cozens (DK $5.0K || FD $5.5K )

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Patrik Laine - DK $5.4K || FD $6.5K

Opponent -Anaheim Ducks

Laine has always been a force on ice when both physically and, more importantly, mentally healthy. The break seems to have worked wonders, with the high-scoring winger firing on all cylinders out the gate in Montreal. In just his first three games back, he's already scored twice to go along with his nine shots on goal and five blocks. Still moderately priced on DK, this is a lock spot until he reaches 6k.

Others to consider:  JJ Peterka (DK $5.5K || FD $5.2K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

When selecting defensemen, especially on DK, I tend to find players with a high chance at both blocks and shots and not concentrate so much on point dependency.

Jacob Trouba - DK $2.5K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Trouba was traded late last week to the Ducks so we have yet to see him lace up for Anaheim. Jacob hasn't had the best year in terms of points but he continues to provide a solid floor with shots and blocks making him the top blue liners of the day in terms of peripherals. A fresh start is maybe what the doctor ordered, keep an eye on line assignments with a possible slot in the power play.

Others to consider:  Jackson LaCombe (DK $3.3K || FD $4.8K)

Here is my top-25 defensemen chart, focusing more on shot and block peripherals to find a safer floor.
