DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/23/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Pete Alonso - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on September 23, 2023. Josh's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Saturday, RotoBallers! We had a jam-packed Friday main slate, and Saturday should be more of the same, albeit in a slightly smaller sample.

This article contains my picks for the five-game main slate on Saturday, September 23, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 4:05 PM ET.

The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Zack Wheeler, PHI vs. NYM ($11,000 DK, $10,500 FD)

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler has had a down season compared to the stats we would expect from him since his move from the New York Mets. That said, Wheeler is still one of the most reliable starters in the league and one of the best strikeout accumulators in the game. Wheeler faces his former team, the Mets, on Saturday. The Mets are middle of the pack in many offensive categories, but they have the sixth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in the last 30 days.

Nick Pivetta, BOS vs. CWS ($7,700 DK, $8,500 FD)

Boston Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta is making his 15th start of the season on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox have the fifth-lowest wOBA and seventh-lowest OPS against right-handed pitching in the last month. The Red Sox have also used Pivetta in different ways this season, shuffling him back and forth between the rotation and the bullpen. The moves were made to maximize Pivetta's efficiency, and, as a result, he has the highest strikeout rate of his career (30.7%) this season.

Others to consider: Joey Wentz ($6,200 DK, $7,200 FD) at OAK

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM at PHI ($5,300 DK, $3,900 FD)

New York Mets first baseman and two-time home run derby champion Pete Alonso faces Phillies starter Zack Wheeler on Saturday. In his career against Wheeler, Alonso is 10-for-28 (.357) with two doubles and three RBI. The Polar Bear has also hit eight home runs and 10 doubles in 39 career games at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Matt Chapman - 3B, TOR at TB ($4,400 DK, $2,700 FD)

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman and perennial gold-glover Matt Chapman started the season at a blazing pace. The former Athletic looked poised to have the best season of his career before ultimately falling back to Earth. From a batting average perspective, the 2023 season has been one of Chapman's better years, but he has had one of his worst years in the power department. Chapman faces Rays pitcher Zack Littell on Saturday. Chapman is 3-for-7 (.429) with a home run against Littell.

Tim Anderson - SS, CWS at BOS ($3,500 DK, $2,500 FD)

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson faces Boston Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta on Saturday. In his career against Pivetta, Anderson is 4-for-10 (.400) with three singles, a double, and an RBI. Anderson is only batting .250 on the season but has found success against Pivetta in the past and should continue to do so if allowed to start the game on Saturday.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Nick Castellanos - OF, PHI vs. NYM ($6,500 DK, $4,500 FD)

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos faces New York Mets starting pitcher Jose Quintana on Saturday. In his career against Quintana, Castellanos is 11-for-40 (.275) with nine singles, two home runs, and six RBI. That level of familiarity developed through years of seeing Quintana should help Castellanos in this matchup. Castellanos is having a solid season, slashing .273/.311/.476 with 28 home runs, the second-most of his career. The Phillies outfielder should find success on Saturday.

Masataka Yoshida - OF, BOS vs. CWS ($4,200 DK, $2,900 FD)

Boston Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida had a brutal start to the season with a low average exit velocity and high ground ball rate. Still, the Japanese superstar took only a short time to turn it around. In 2023, Yoshida is slashing .285/.336/.441 with 15 home runs, 70 runs, 71 RBI, and eight stolen bases. Yoshida also has one of the lowest strikeout rates in baseball at 13.8%. Yoshida faces White Sox righty Dylan Cease. Yoshida is batting .290 on the season with 12 of his 15 home runs against righties.

Daulton Varsho - C/OF, TOR at TB ($3,000 DK, $2,700 FD)

Toronto Blue Jays catcher and outfielder Daulton Varsho faces Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Zack Littell on Saturday. In his career against Littell, Varsho is 3-for-3 (1.000) with a double, a home run, a walk, and an RBI. The 27-year-old should continue mashing in this matchup on Saturday.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Jose Quintana

New York Mets right-handed starter Jose Quintana must navigate a Phillies lineup with hitters like Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, and Nick Castellanos. Quintana will also pitch at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday. Quintana has a 4.30 ERA and an 0-1 record in his career at the Phillies stadium. The Phillies are a tough matchup for the veteran pitcher on Saturday.
