DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/16/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on August 16th, 2022. Mark Kieffer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

It's Tuesday, August 16th which means we get our first full slate of the week in MLB. With about six weeks left in the season, the playoff races are heating up with a lot of exciting action down the stretch!

This article has daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 8/16/2022, Main Slate at 7:05 pm Eastern Time. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. The main slate is 13 games on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Robbie Ray- P, SEA @ LAA ($9,500 DK, $10,300 FD)

Robbie Ray is the high-priced pitcher that has a good matchup. The Angels have the third-lowest wRC+ (82) against LHP this season. Ray has a 28% strikeout rate, a 3.50 SIERA, along with a good chance of picking up a win.

Jeffrey Springs- P, TAM @ NYY ($7,400 DK, $8,200 FD)

If looking for a spend-down, GPP pitcher, Springs is someone to look at here. He has the second-lowest SIERA on the slate at 3.20 and a strikeout rate of 26.8%. His numbers are very similar to Brandon Woodruff who is much more expensive. The downside is the Yankees have the best offense against LHP in baseball. They are in a bit of a downswing right now though overall.

Jakob Junis- P, SF vs. ARI ($6,700 DK, $7,100 FD)

If looking for a punt with minimal upside, Junis is the guy. He has a 3.78 ERA, a 3.84 SIERA, and a 21% strikeout rate. Facing a weak offense in Arizona at home is not a bad spot. He probably won't win you a tournament with his relatively low strikeout rate, but he likely won't destroy your lineup either.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jose Miranda 3B, MIN vs. Zack Greinke ($3,700 DK, $2,900 FD)

He has a .335 wOBA, a 119 wRC+, and a .148 ISO against RHP. He doesn't have much upside but against a 4.73 SIERA Greinke, it's a good spot.

Paul DeJong- SS, STL vs. Kyle Freeland ($4,100 DK, $2,900 FD)

DeJong has a .384 wOBA and .200 ISO against LHP this season.

Kolten Wong- 2B, MIL vs. Ryan Pepiot ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD)

Ryan Pepiot is a good prospect but he hasn't translated it to a great MLB stint yet. He has a 5.14 SIERA, a 16.5% walk rate, and allows 1.31 HR/9. Wong is a solid all-around player that can hit a home run or steal a base, but has limited upside overall.

Albert Pujols- 1B, STL vs. Kyle Freeland ($2,200 DK, $2,300 FD)

I wrote up Albert Pujols on Sunday against Aaron Ashby and he went double-dong. His price has gone up just a couple hundred and I am back on the Pujols train as he faces a LHP in Kyle Freeland. Pujols has a .430 wOBA and a .312 ISO against LHP this season.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Oscar Gonzalez- OF, CLE vs. Garrett Hill ($3,600 DK, $2,700 FD)

Oscar Gonzalez has a .349 wOBA and .167 ISO against RHP this season. Garrett Hill has a 5.82 SIERA this season.

Mitch Haniger- OF, SEA vs. Jose Suarez ($3,900 DK, $3,300 FD)

There's a limited sample size this season but Haniger in his career has a .360 wOBA and .220 ISO against LHP. Suarez has a 4.26 SIERA and allows 1.30 HR/9.

Ian Happ- OF, CHC vs. Patrick Corbin ($4,300 DK, $3,100 FD) OR
Seiya Suzuki - OF, CHC vs. Patrick Corbin ($4,500 DK, $2,900 FD)

Ian Happ has a .380 wOBA and a .151 ISO against LHP this season. Seiya Suzuki has a .319 wOBA and a .205 ISO against LHP this season. In a cash game, I'd opt for Happ with a lower floor while in a GPP I would favor Suzuki who has more home run upside.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are a few stacks I am really liking today!

  • Saint Louis Cardinals - Kyle Freeland has a 4.59 SIERA, and just a 16.4% strikeout rate. Cardinals have good splits vs. LHP.
  • Chicago Cubs - Whenever Patrick Corbin is on the mound, I want to target him.
  • Milwaukee Brewers-  Ryan Pepiot has a 16.5% walk rate!
  • Cleveland Guardians - Garrett Hill is a pitcher to target today
  • Minnesota Twins - Greinke isn't who he used to be. He has a 13.5% strikeout rate and a 4.73 SIERA
