DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (7/13/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on July 13th, 2022. Juan Carlos Blanco's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. As customary, we have an all-day ledger on tap Wednesday, and although DraftKings does not have a full-day slate, FanDuel does. Consequently, today's article will feature picks on both sites for games throughout the day, as even on DK, the suggestions will prove viable for someone playing one of the site's split slates.

There's another strong quartet of pitchers on today's slate, leading to four suggestions overall at the position. There's also a good amount of targetable arms taking the hill, so putting together an array of bats that there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about was a fairly straightforward process as well.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 7/13/2022 that includes a FanDuel main slate locking at 12:05 pm ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter and ask away!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Tony Gonsolin -P, LAD at STL ($9,400 DK, $10,200 FD)

Gonsolin has vaulted himself into legitimate Cy Young candidacy with an eye-popping start to the season that includes an 11-0 record, 1.62 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, .217 xBA, and .228 wOBA. The right-hander has a 4-0 record, 9.1 K/9, and 0.9 HR/9 on the road over 40.2 innings as well, and he's yielding a career-low 32.2 percent hard-hit rate overall. The Cardinals have mostly been in an offensive funk of late, including at home against righties, where they entered Tuesday night's action with just a .234 average, .273 OBP, .130 ISO, .277 wOBA, and -5.3 wRAA over the last two weeks. Finally, consider that Gonsolin has held right- and left-handed hitters to .182 and .190 averages, respectively, on the road, as well as corresponding .271 and .263 wOBAs.

Pablo Lopez - P, MIA vs. PIT ($10,800- Showdown only- DK, $10,000 FD)

Lopez has been especially effective at home, where he's generated a 3-1 record, 2.41 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 9.4 K/9, and 0.7 HR/9. Lopez is also holding hitters to a .189 average overall at loanDepot Park, along with a .248 OBP and .264 wOBA. Moreover, Lopez has held hitters to a .184 average over his first pair of starts in July, and he's done an excellent job of stranding runners all season as evidenced by his .176 and .182 BAAs with men on base and men in scoring position, respectively. Additionally, the Pirates shape up as a particularly appealing target on paper, as they've posted a 28.1 percent strikeout rate, .212 average, .281 OBP, and .305 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road in the last month.

Other options: Shane McClanahan - P, TB vs. BOS ($10,000 DK, $11,500 FD); Luis Severino, NYY vs. CIN ($9,200 DK, $9,300 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM at Charlie Morton ($4,800 DK, $3,700 FD)

Alonso is putting together another impressive season that currently includes a career-best .272 average, along with the second-highest OBP (.346) and slugging percentage (.531) of his three-plus seasons. The slugger has also been especially lethal against right-handed pitching on the road, a split in which he owns a .318 average, .382 wOBA, .912 OPS, and 154 wRC+. Alonso has also enjoyed prior encounters against Morton, who he's tormented for a .400 average with zero strikeouts in 10 career plate appearances. Meanwhile, while Morton has been in much better form lately than earlier in the season, he's still allowing career highs in xSLG (.432) and xwOBA (.330). He's also giving up a .270 xBA, .522 xSLG, and .364 xwOBA on his second-most-often-thrown pitch, the four-seam fastball, while Alonso has a .408 xwOBA and .630 xSLG against the pitch.

Matt Carpenter - 2B, NYY vs. Mike Minor ($4,300 DK, $3,500 FD)

Carpenter has been in the lineup on a near-everyday basis and absolutely tearing the cover off the ball, as he'll enter Wednesday with a magnificent .344/.447/.859 slash line across 77 plate appearances. What's more, 13 of Carpenter's 22 hits thus far have gone for extra bases, and he has a three-game streak of multi-hit efforts. Carpenter has also been thriving in same-handed matchups, with the veteran slugger posting a .350 average, 1.308 OPS, and a .538 wOBA against left-handed pitching. Then, Minor has struggled in a small sample against lefty bats on the road, yielding a .286 average and .327 wOBA in that split for the season, and a .261 average and .736 OPS overall during his career. Carpenter is responsible for a small percentage of the latter numbers, as he's tagged Minor for a .583 average over 13 career encounters, with only one strikeout in that sample.

Gleyber Torres - SS, NYY vs. Mike Minor ($4,800 DK, $3,000 FD)

Torres makes for a very viable candidate to attack Minor with from the other side of the plate, and a great option to pair with Carpenter in your lineups. The hot-hitting shortstop was on base during his first four plate appearances Tuesday night against the Reds, and he entered the game with a .293 average, .992 OPS, .415 wOBA, and .366 ISO against southpaws this season. Meanwhile, Minor has been absolutely eviscerated by right-handed hitters on the road, allowing a .385 average, 1.246 OPS, and .497 wOBA in that split. Then, he's also allowing .268 and .294 averages on his top two pitches, the four-seam and slider, while Torres has posted .381 and .374 wOBAs against those respective offerings.

Manny Machado - 3B, SDP at Chad Kuhl ($5,500 DK, $4,500 FD)

Machado is naturally always a good candidate to consider for tournaments or cash games, but especially when you can deploy him at Coors Field. The veteran slugger entered Tuesday night's action boasting a .310/.385/.538 slash line with 35 XBH. Machado's best hitting has come against right-handers on the road as well, as he sports a .338 average, .941 OPS, 10.3 wRAA, and .401 wOBA in that split, along with a 39.2 percent hard-contact rate. Kuhl has navigated Coors Field impressively, but he's also allowing a .270 xBA and 41.7 percent hard-hit rate, the latter a career-high figure. He's also surrendering a .323 average and .381 wOBA on his trademark sinker, while Machado has posted a .317 average and .357 wOBA versus that offering.

Other options: Eric Hosmer, 1B, SDP at Chad Kuhl ($2,000 DK, $2,900 FD); Tim Anderson - SS, CWS at Aaron Civale ($5,600 DK, $3,600 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Luis Robert - CWS at Aaron Civale ($5,200 DK, $4,200 FD)

The White Sox are one of the teams I suggest as a possible stack for Wednesday, and Robert could certainly play an integral role in whatever success Chicago enjoys. The talented outfielder has blasted right-handed pitching on the road for a .310 average and .344 wOBA while also generating a 24.2 percent line-drive rate in that split. He's also knocked Civale around for a .455 average in 14 career encounters, and Civale has given up a .303 average and .374 wOBA to right-handed hitters, along with a 1.8 HR/9 when facing that handedness at home.

Kyle Garlick - OF, MIN vs. Aaron Ashby ($2,800 DK, $2,200 FD)

Garlick is always a good play against left-handed pitching, and such a scenario presents itself Wednesday with Ashby on the hill. The young outfielder has a .318 average, 1.039 OPS, .435 wOBA, and 189 wRC+ versus southpaws, and he's generated a stellar 42.9 percent line-drive rate against that handedness at home. Ashby has struggled against right-handed hitters on the road, yielding a .273 average, .336 wOBA, and 1.57 WHIP. Garlick has also been outstanding at home in general, as evidenced by a .333 average, .823 OPS, and .377 wOBA in that split.

Julio Rodriguez - OF, SEA at Erick Fedde ($3,800 FD) (UPDATE: The second game of the Mariners-Nationals twin bill has apparently been left off both DK's and FD's slates, so consider the alternative option of Byron Buxton listed below)

Rodriguez should be serving his one-game suspension in the early game of Wednesday's twin bill, so he should be in the lineup for the nightcap against Fedde. Rodriguez is boasting a .266 average, .778 OPS, and .336 wOBA against right-handed pitching, while Fedde has conceded a .280 average and .350 wOBA to right-handed hitters. The Mariners rookie also happens to be an outstanding hitter against Fedde's trademark sinker, as he's posted a .403 wOBA and .924 OPS against the pitch.

Other options: Byron Buxton, MIN vs. Aaron Ashby ($5,700 DK, $3,700 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

  • Padres at Chad Kuhl, SDP, RHP
