DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice - NBA DFS Lineup Picks for 1/20/16

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Justin Bales highlights the top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for 1/20/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings NBA DFS lineups.

Dwight Howard's season began with some struggles because the Rockets wouldn't use him on offense, but that looks like it's fixed. He scored 36 points with 26 rebounds in his last game, and he is playing as well as anyone in the NBA right now.

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for DraftKings for 1/20/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

Without wasting anymore time, let's get down to it!

DraftKings DFS Point Guards

Ish Smith (at ORL, $7,500)

Smith has been playing exceptionally well recently, as he’s averaging 20.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game over the last 10 days. He’s playing huge minutes for the Sixers, and he’s the clear focal point of their offense. He gets a great matchup against the Magic, who love turning games into shootouts without much defense. Smith should have no problems continuing his great season, and he can be used in all leagues.

Elfrid Payton (vs PHI, $5,800)

Victor Oladipo has been ruled out tonight, which means Elfrid Payton will start at point guard again tonight. In his last start, he scored 16 points with 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal in only 27 minutes because the Magic were losing in the third quarter. This game should stay much closer from the start to the finish, and he already dominated the Sixers for 37 fantasy points this season. He has been great when given the minutes, and he should play 30+ minutes tonight.

DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards

Jimmy Butler (vs GS, $8,400)

Aside from his one bad game, Butler has scored 35+ fantasy points in each of his last 10 contests, including eight games with 40+ fantasy points, three games with 50+ fantasy points, and one game with 81 fantasy points. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 24.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He gets a good matchup against the Warriors tonight, and the Bulls will likely be leaning on Butler on both ends of the court. Butler can be used in all leagues.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (at HOU, $5,800)

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been enjoying a fairly good season, and he has been playing well recently. He’s coming off a game in which he scored 27.25 fantasy points before being ejected with two technical fouls. Before that, he scored 36.25 and 39.25 fantasy points in two of his last three games. He does come with quite a bit of risk, which is why he’s best suited for GPPs. He gets a good matchup against a fast paced Houston team tonight, and he’s an extremely high upside player.

DraftKings DFS Small Forwards

Carmelo Anthony (vs UTA, $8,300)

Generally I tend to avoid guys playing against Utah, but Melo is a bit underpriced tonight. He should be priced more like an elite small forward, and Utah has struggled against small forwards at times this season. Melo is the focal point of the New York offense, and he took 28 shots in his last game. He can fill the stat sheet, which gives him great upside to go along with his consistency. He can be used in all leagues tonight.

Robert Covington (at ORL, $5,800)

It looks like Covington is locked into big minutes for the Sixers, regardless of the status of Jerami Grant. That means he can be used on a nightly basis again because of his great upside. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He has flashed 40+ fantasy point upside, but he has also been fairly consistent recently. He gets a great matchup against the Magic, and Covington makes a great GPP option tonight.

DraftKings DFS Power Forwards

Paul Millsap (at POR, $8,200) – Millsap has been playing extremely well recently, as he’s averaging 19.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 1.2 steals in only 29.2 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He generally plays minutes in the mid-30s, which gives him even more upside than he has displayed recently. He gets a great matchup against the Blazers, who have struggled against big men, and Millsap is one of few players who can fill the stat sheet at an elite level in all five categories. He’s a great play in all leagues tonight.

Ersan Ilyasova (at HOU, $5,700) – It’s beginning to look like Ersanity, as Ilyasova has been on fire recently. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 14.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.0 steal per game. He also has two 40+ fantasy point games over that span. He gets a great matchup against Houston, who love to push the pace, and Ilyasova is a great tournament option tonight.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Dwight Howard (vs DET, $8,100)

At this point, there is no reason to avoid Dwight Howard. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 19.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. He’s coming off a huge game against the Clippers, in which he scored 36 points with 26 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal. He is finally playing a much bigger role in the Houston offense, and his fantasy numbers have been great in the recent weeks. Howard makes a great play in all leagues tonight.
