DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/5/19): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on September 5th, 2019. Ben Rolfe's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Thursday once again brings us a bit split slate, with five games on the early slate and seven on the later slate. The later slate is where the money is slightly more slanted too, and therefore, that is where our attention will focus today.

The late slate has two favorites who are below -200 in the Rays and the Astros. Only one of those two options really has a pitcher on the mound that is worth trying to take advantage of, as Austin Pruitt has been inconsistent this season. Interestingly, all seven games on this slate have a projected total of nine or above, which is largely due to a lack of absolute stud pitchers on the slate. However, today has a feeling of having a few tight games, as there is also a lack of really dreadful pitchers taking to the mound today.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/5/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @benrolfe15.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Jose Quintana, CHC (@ MIL) - $10,500

Quintana is not the sexy option, but he offers the best floor/ceiling combination on this slate. Four of his last five starts have seen him scored 19 or more fantasy points, including three straight starts in which he scored over 30 fantasy points. His numbers on the road have been better this season, with a .365 ERA and an average of a strikeout per innings. On an interesting slate for pitching Quintana offers a wonderful mix of safety and upside, at a solid price.

Wade Miley, HOU (vs. SEA) - $9,900

Again Miley is not a sexy option, and he does not have the same ceiling that Quintana does, but he has the ability to be an extremely solid option. This season Miley has a 2.22 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 73 innings. He is facing a Seattle team which is ice cold right now, having scored three or fewer runs in eight of their last 10 games. Miley has also been in good form since the All-Star break, with a 2.65 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Pedro Severino, BAL (vs. TEX) - $3,500

Severino should make for a good play today as the Rangers bring left-handed starter Kolby Allard into Camden Yards. Severino is hitting .276, with seven home runs, a .213 ISO and a .337 wOBA against lefties this season. He struggles a little for consistency at home but does have a .167 ISO in Camden Yards.

1B - Justin Smoak, TOR (@ TB) - $3,400

Smoak has hit 17 of his 20 home runs against right-handed pitchers this season and has a .231 ISO with a .340 wOBA. Being in Tampa Bay is not ideal, but Austin Pruitt has a 4.78 ERA this season, so is certainly someone the Blue Jays will be hoping to get after.

2B - Jose Altuve, HOU (vs. SEA) - $4,500

Altuve is on absolute fire since the All-Star break, hitting .340 with 15 home runs, 29 extra-base hits, a .296 ISO and a .420 wOBA in 225 PA. Additionally, against left-handed pitchers this season he has hit an incredible .389 with nine home runs, .389 ISO and a .488 wOBA.

3B - Renato Nunez, BAL (vs. TEX) - $3,900

Nunez has quietly had really good numbers against left-handed pitchers this season, with 12 home runs, a .270 batting average, .247 ISO and a .344 wOBA. He is also hitting better at home this season, with a .265 batting average and 15 of his 28 home runs.

SS - Jorge Polanco, MIN (@ BOS) - $4,800

Polanco is having a solid year and his numbers against right-handed pitchers are extremely positive. The .211 ISO is not great, but his .316 batting average and .384 wOBA are very impressive. He has also been better on the road, with a .380 wOBA, a 139 wRC+ and a .201 ISO.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Austin Meadows, TB (vs. TOR) - $4,600

Meadows has been resurgent in the second half of this season, after fading a little in June and July. Since the All-Star break, he has hit 14 home runs, with a .328 ISO and a .372 wOBA. He has also been stronger against right-handed pitchers, with a .293 batting average, .270 ISO and a .386 wOBA.

Jason Heyward, CHC (@ MIL) - $3,600

Heyward has some pretty stark splits this season, with his numbers against right-handed pitchers being the standout. Against righties this year he has a .268 batting average, 16 of his 18 home runs, a .198 ISO and a .346 wOBA.

Jake Marisnick, HOU (vs. SEA) - $3,200

When the Astros face left-handed pitchers it is always a chance to try and get Marisnick in your lineup, as long as the Astros do the same thing. Marisnick does not have great numbers against lefties, but they are solid enough for this price, with a .225 ISO and a .327 wOBA.
