DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (1/28/23): NBA DFS Lineups

Anthony Edwards - NBA DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Basketball Rankings, Injury News - rotoballer icon

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on January 28th, 2023. Kyle Ringstad provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Saturday slates are typically smaller, ranging from four to six games on the main slate on most occasions. However, we're treated to a nine-game main slate tonight on both sites, tipping off at 6:00 CT with the Rockets-Pistons and Bulls-Magic matchups. As you can see by my model below, every game on the board is one we can feel good about targeting for DFS - that doesn't happen often. A large group of key players listed as questionable is coming in today. Their availability will impact our strategy tonight, so stay tuned to the injury news as the day progresses. Let's get to it.

Here are my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 1/28/23. Keep an eye on RotoBaller’s NBA injury news and also our full NBA injury report today to stay up to date before lineups are locked.

DraftKings and FanDuel Guards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Alec Burks, vs. HOU (FD: $5,000, DK: $4,500) If starting

Burks was surprisingly announced as a starter minutes before Detroit's last game on Thursday. DFS players who were quick to get him into their lineups were rewarded handsomely as the well-traveled veteran produced 35.75 DK points over his 30 minutes of playing time against the Nets. If he remains in the starting lineup tonight, he will be a great value option at his affordable salary. The Rockets hold the third-worst defensive rating in the NBA and allow the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing teams. They particularly struggle against point guards, as they're allowing the most fantasy points per game to the position this season.

Chris Paul (FD: $8,100, DK: $7,900)

Jae'Sean Tate (FD: $4,300, DK: $4,000)

Also consider: De'Aaron Fox, Dejounte Murray, D'Angelo Russell, Paul George, Fred VanVleet

DraftKings and FanDuel Forwards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Anthony Edwards, vs. SAC (FD: $9,300, DK: $9,400)

"Ant" is still too cheap. He needs 47 DK points to reach 5x value tonight, and he has been right at or over that number in four consecutive games, including a 71 DK point outburst against the Rockets exactly one week ago. The third-year budding star is taking that next step, which shows in his stats as he's averaging career-high numbers across the board. His 30.8% usage and 1.26 FPTS/min rates look beautiful tonight against the fast-paced (8th in pace), lacking-in-defense (23rd in defensive rating) Kings, especially in a game with the highest implied total on the board at a lofty 238 points.

Edwards plays a pretty loose definition of a "small forward," as he has the ball in his hands and commands the offense most of the time he's in the game. Still, the Kings allow the most fantasy points per game in the NBA to the position, as guys like Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, and Harrison Barnes don't have much of a shot defending the 21-year-old Edwards. Load up on the underpriced Ant tonight.

Jayson Tatum, vs. LAL (FD: $11,200, DK: $11,100)

I guess we're spending up at forward today. Tatum feels underpriced even at $11,000+ as he's averaging 62.4 DK points over his last five games and exceeded 71 DK points twice in that span. The matchup doesn't get much better as the Lakers play at the second-fastest pace in the NBA and allow the sixth-most fantasy points per game overall. He put up 66.75 DK points the last time these teams met back in mid-December, and I'd expect a similar performance out of him on national television tonight.

Also consider: Jaden McDaniels, Rui Hachimura, Kyle Anderson, Jerami Grant, Corey Kispert, Josh Hart

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Alperen Sengun, vs. DET (FD: $8,400, DK: $8,800)

What happens when you take the two highest-usage players from the Rockets off the floor? Well, you get an Alperen Sengun who sees significant boosts to his usage rate (23.9%) and FPTS/min rate (1.40). Sengun is finally getting the playing time he should've had all season, and saying he's making the most of it would be an understatement. He posted a 70.25 DK point explosion of a game on 1/16 against the Lakers and has put up at least 54 DK points in three of five games since. He had a spectacular 21/11/10/2/3 line against the Wizards on Wednesday, good for 62.75 DK points. He has been a monster down low recently, and I'm not wanting to get away from his upside on this slate. The Pistons allow the second-most fantasy points per game overall and the eighth-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers this season. Notably, they're allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing centers over their last seven games.

Also consider: Robert Williams, Rudy Gobert, Precious Achiuwa, Ivica Zubac
