DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/28/22): MLB DFS Lineups

Bryce Harper - Philadelphia Phillies

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/16/22. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

And then there were two. We have made it to the pinnacle of a baseball season that some thought may never happen. It has been a wild season and now it's the Phillies and Astros for the World Series title. Are you ready? Here we go!

For showdown mode on DraftKings, we pick one captain who costs 1.5x his normal salary, but he also scores 1.5x the points. We must have at least one player from each team and relievers are fair game if you think you have a bead on which relievers will be used. On FanDuel, the format is a bit different. No player salaries are multiplied, but you get one MVP who scores double points and one start that scores 1.5x points along with three utility slots. Oh...and it's only hitters.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/28/22. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. It’s also important to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, contact me on Twitter.

MLB DFS Captain Options

Justin Verlander ($16,200)

Both pitchers are aces in Game 1, so there really is no wrong answer. However, Verlander has much higher strikeout upside than Nola has. I don't mind using Nola either if you find yourself not able to get the hitters you want. Like I said, both are aces and both have good numbers against the opponent. I'm leaning towards Verlander because of his 18 strikeouts in 38 at-bats by the Phillies. Nola has struck out 17 Astros in 46 at-bats.

Jean Segura ($10,200 DK; $6,000 FD)

With Segura's price this low, we at least have to consider him. Segura has five RBI and four runs scored in the post season to go with his .257 average. What really has me eyeballing Segura is that he is the only player on either team to hit a homer off of the opposing starting pitcher. He is also 4-for-14 lifetime against Verlander. I like those odds!

Star/MVP options: Bryce Harper ($9,000), Jeremy Pena ($6,500)

DraftKings/FanDuel DFS Utility Options

Along with the others I consider for the captain slot, these can be good utility plays as well.

Bryce Harper ($10,000 DK; $9,000 FD)

Harper has two career hits in five tries against Verlander, but there has been no hotter player in the postseason than Harper. He has four homers and 11 RBI in 11 games. He has a ten-game hitting streak going on as well. Harper is seeing the ball as well as he has at any point in his career. He is going to be in every lineup of mine, at least until he cools off.

Yordan Alvarez ($9,800 DK; $9,500 FD)

I'm seriously considering fading both pitchers because of Harper and Yordan. Both are hitting well right now, but Yordan trashed the Phillies in their three-game set earlier this year. Yordan has six hits in 11 at-bats in that series. He didn't hit a homer off of them, but this price feels a touch low on DK.

Alex Bregman ($9,200 DK; $7,500 FD)

The Astros still haven't lost in the postseason this year and Bregman is a huge reason for that. He is 10-for-30 with two homers and seven RBI in seven games. He has scored fantasy points in every game as well. Bregman is a nice way to save and rent and still have an outstanding floor.

Other Options: Kyle Schwarber ($9,600 DK; $8,500 FD); Rhys Hoskins ($7,600 DK; $7,500 FD); Christian Vazquez ($7,000 DK; $5,000 FD)
