Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver (WR) Diontae Johnson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 17 of the 2019 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Diontae Johnson of all Steelers is about to finish the 2019 season as the receiver with most snaps to his name on offense among those to play in Pittsburgh this year. Not that he doesn’t merit the accolade, though. Another week, another great game for Johnson this last one. He finished the day with 81 yards and a score on eight catches (nine targets) against the Jets in what marked the best fantasy performance of the season for him, getting to 22.1 fantasy points.
Even with JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington on the field, Johnson was the only receiver with more than five catches and to get more than 41 yards and score. Considering Johnson had to “endure” the QB play of both Devlin Hodges and Mason Rudolph this past Sunday, his outing was more than noticeable under such circumstances. With JuJu banged-up, Johnson is the go-to receiver of this attack and he’s been able to get 11-plus fantasy points in each of his last three games while getting to 60-plus yards and five-plus receptions in each of them. He also had a touchdown in Week 14 against Arizona and has scored a grand total of five on the season.
For its season finale, Pittsburgh will take on a Ravens team that will feature mostly reserves as it has already secured a bye on the playoffs. The Steelers need to win to make the postseason, so you can be sure they will be going for everything they can get this weekend. Johnson will once again feature heavily on offense, so if you can still get him through waivers you shouldn’t hesitate. Johnson is a 1A/1B receiver at the very least and should be a lock at your flex position in any league if you have it open, and a good WR2 play in deeper leagues consider his role and the cupcake-matchup in the schedule.
