DFS Studs: Our Best DFS Lineup Picks for Fantasy Football

Each week here at RotoBaller, we provide the subscribers of our DFS Lineup Picks of the Week Newsletter with some of the highest quality advice for salary cap fantasy football for DFS weekly league sites.  We also have lots of great DFS analysis weekly, so be sure to check back.

Why We Love Daily League Fantasy Football

By Jeffrey Beall (Own work) [CC-BY-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsIt's time for Week 14 already and some of us luckier RotoBallers are primed and ready for the fantasy football playoffs. Unfortunately, along with the winners are also some less fortunate season long losers.

Are you one of those people whose fantasy football team is eliminated from the fantasy playoffs? Or maybe you only have one team left, and the rest have been eliminated but you want to roll out more lineups? Well if you don't feel like waiting another 9-10 full months to play more fantasy football, then we have the perfect new tasty treat to feed your fantasy football appetite. The weekly formats of DFS fantasy football is just what the doctor ordered. Draft a new team each week, and battle it out against your friends or as many opponents as you please.

It's my favorite way to supplement my fantasy football teams, and plug-and-play guys that I wish I owned in my leagues on a weekly basis. After all there's nothing like owning DeMarco Murray, Calvin Johnson, Matt Forte, A.J. Green, Antonio Brown, Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady for one week, when you missed out on them in all of your season-long fantasy football leagues.

Looking for An Edge?

If you play salary cap leagues on any of the leading DFS sites, then our expert picks can give you the edge you need to win. Each week we analyze the player matchups, and the associated pricing across the sites to identify the sleepers and value picks to put together a winning lineup. With each newsletter, you will receive our well-researched weekly picks for each position, with both a “Strong Play” and a “Value Play”, and we will also include two or three budget buster tournament plays for each position. All in all, you will be receiving a minimum of 12 of our expertly hand-picked recommendations for your gaming pleasure!

We’ve reprinted some of RotoBaller’s lineup picks from last week’s subscribers-only exclusive newsletter to give you an idea of the DFS analysis that we put forward each and every week. As you can see below, our experts had some sweet recommendations for Week 13, so hopefully you got in on the action! And if not, no worries, there’s still plenty of time for Week 14 and beyond.

A Recap of Some DFS Lineup Picks from Week 13

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - (FantasyScore $7,800)

Big Ben is facing off against a very poor Saints defense at home in Week 13 and we absolutely love this DFS matchup. New Orleans allows the 10th most fantasy points per week to opposing quarterbacks and is currently rated as the NFL's worst overall pass coverage unit by Pro Football Focus.

Ben Roethlisberger also comes into Week 13 rated as the best passer in NFL based on Pro Football Focus; right in front of Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. We think this is a must start game for the Steelers veteran signal caller who averages 21.2 DFS points per contest, so make sure you get him in for his favorable home splits at Heinz Field in Week 13 versus the porous Saints secondary.

Result: 435 passing yards, 2 TD, 2 INT - BULLSEYE

WR (Strong) - Keenan Allen - (FantasyScore $5,100)

Young Keenan is not having quite the sophomore campaign that he or fantasy owners expected, but he can certainly be relied upon as a WR2 with upside for Week 13 as the Chargers face the Baltimore Ravens and their 11th worst pass coverage unit on the road. Baltimore is also allowing the most points to fantasy wide receivers, a ridiculous 27.55 per contest.

Even with a few decent options including Malcom Floyd and Antonio Gates, there is still plenty of passing production to go around in Week 13. Let's hope Phil Rivers is healthy enough, and ready to produce like we project versus the Ravens, with Keenan Allen being a huge beneficiary of Baltimore being without #1 cornerback Jimmy Smith for the duration of the 2014 season.

Result: 11 receptions, 121 receiving yards, 2 TD - BULLSEYE

WR (Budget Buster) - Kenny Stills - (FantasyScore $4,100)

It's not often that we go back to the well two weeks in a row, but the results and targets are undeniable for Kenny Stills and the Saints offense. As we projected and recommended to you last week, Kenny "The Kid" Stills had a breakout performance with 8 receptions on 9 targets for a total of 98 receiving yards.

Even with Brandin Cooks still being out and the Saints going up against a Steelers defense that allows an average of 22.52 points per game to fantasy wide receivers, DFS sites across the board have still been super slow to raise his price. We highly recommend you take another great opportunity to reap the DFS benefits with Kenny Stills as your contrarian, budget busting WR3 or Flex option for Week 13.

Result: 5 receptions, 162 receiving yards, 1 TD - BULLSEYE

WR (Value) - Jarvis Landry - (FantasyScore $5,100)

Hello Jarvis Landry, have you met the New York Jets secondary yet? No, he hasn't had the pleasure yet of facing one of the worst pass coverage units in the NFL yet, but we sure know he's licking his chops waiting for a chance to get at them. Why is that you ask? Well first of all, this precise route runner is surprisingly rated as the NFL's 16th best wide receiver based on the ratings of Pro Football Focus.

Secondly, he also faces a defense that gives up an average of 24.01 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers each and every week. With Mike Wallace playing second fiddle in targets of late, we think the Tannehill to Landry chemistry will only continue to grow versus the junky Jets. We suggest you find a way to use this undervalued stud as your WR3 or Flex option in Week 13 of DFS action.

Result: 8 receptions, 68 receiving yards - HIT

RB (Value) - Dan Herron - (FantasyScore $4,900)

Boom Herron surprised some fantasy footballers in Week 12 when he got the start over beleaguered teammate and former 1st round draft pick, Trent "The Bust" Richardson. He did not waste the opportunity and put up a solid 13.6 points in PPR leagues combining for 12 carries and 5 receptions for a total of 17 touches.

Although the Washington Redskins are a bit stingy versus fantasy running backs, only allowing an average of 18.89 points per contest, we still like the main running back in an Andrew Luck led offense sure to explode against the Redskins 4th worst rated overall defense based on Pro Football Focus.

While you should obviously not go too crazy here by trying to get cute using Daniel "Boom Herron as your RB1, he certainly makes a viable budget busting RB2 with a bit of upside for Week 13 of DFS action.

Result: 2 reception, 8 receiving yardw, 88 rushing yards, 1 TD - BULLSEYE

Antonio Gates - (FantasyScore $6,200)

Phil Rivers has been a bit banged up of late effecting his ability to be a consistent fantasy performer. Although that has trickled down and effected Gate's numbers a bit, he gets a chance at redemption in this Week 13 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens who have an atrocious pass coverage unit. If Rivers and Gates can't connect for some solid fantasy points in Week 13, we will be severely shocked and let down because we're sure to have some exposure to this undervalued TE1 in Week 13 of DFS action.

Result: 7 receptions, 83 receiving yards - HIT

New York Giants - (FantasyScore $2,300)

The New York Giants travel to the warmer confines of Jacksonville to face a Jaguars team that allows the most points per game to fantasy defenses, a beefy 14.09 per contest. It may feel like the same old tired story each and every week when we pick on the pathetic Jaguars offense, but the reality is that it's paid off as recently as last week when we told you the Colts would benefit from the streaming matchup. They ended up putting up a solid 8 fantasy points when they were only about 50% owned.

With the boys in blue being priced cheaper than a quarter water across all DFS site, they can be used as a Week 13 sleeper defense against the likes of Blake Bortles, Denard Robinson, Clay Harbor and the rest of the uninspiring Jags offense. One more thing to note is that both teams rank directly right next to each other on Pro Football Focus' overall team defense rankings. With that in mind it's not too hard to project a similar, or slightly greater, outcome for a Giants team with a marginally better pass rush. Get this undervalued defense streamer into your mix as our strongest waiver wire pickup for Week 13.

Result: 11 fantasty points  - BULLSEYE
