BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 0% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: The Detroit Tigers made a surprise move earlier this week, demoting struggling third baseman Jeimer Candelario to Triple-A Toledo. That allowed them to recall the hot-hitting Dawel Lugo, who manager Ron Gardenhire stated would be the team's primary third baseman going forward.
Lugo reacclimated himself to the big leagues quite well, blasting a three-run home run in his first game of the season. While the power won't last, Lugo was hitting a nice .341/.393/.468 in Toledo, with a pair of home runs and three steals.
Everyday at-bats makes Lugo worth a look in deep leagues, but throughout his minor league career he hasn't shown a ton of power or speed, which obviously limits his fantasy value. He's a high-contact hitter who could hit .280 in the big leagues, but he doesn't draw many walks.
As long as he is playing every day for the Tigers, he is worth a stash in deeper (16+, AL-only) formats. But don't expect many home runs or steals, which limits his value to those deeper formats.
