ANALYSIS: It's about time Danny Amendola shows who Danny Amendola is. After spending one year on South Beach playing for the Dolphins, Amendola signed with Detroit this summer and after a rosy debut but a rocky follow-up streak of games, it all points in the right direction once again for the Lions receiver. The competition for targets in Detroit is fierce, yes, but with Kerryon Johnson down for a while injured that might turn into more chances for the team's wideouts. And Amendola is the one who can gain the most.

As I already mentioned, Amendola started the season with a bang. He caught seven passes for 104 yards and a touchdown while being targeted a massive 13 times. No wonder, his 23.4 fantasy points are the highest mark he's reached so far this year. But after that, his following three games (including a DNP and a bye week in between) have seen him come back to earth. He laid an egg against the Chargers in Week 2 (although he played 35 snaps), then had an average 7.7-points game against Philadelphia (4/37/0) and in Week 6 he was again super limited by Green Bay's defense finishing with a mediocre 1/6/0 line (1.6 points).

What should have put you on notice about picking Amendola up from waivers is his last game, though. Amendola went back to his old self by racking up 105 yards on eight receptions, logging double-digit targets again (11). He only lacked a touchdown, but his 18.5 fantasy points were more than good for his owners. With a banged-up backfield that will turn to backups for the next few weeks and an uptick in usage, Amendola should become a solid option if you're looking for weekly flex plays. If Amendola is targeted, Amendola produces. Simple as that. And I believe Matthew Stafford will be throwing him the ball more going forward.
