Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Picks & Analysis for the Goody's Headache Relief 500

Joey Logano picked up his 3rd win in a row, sweeping the 2nd round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup. There are now eight drivers remaining with four races to go until a champion is crowned. The third round consists of another three races (Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix) that will narrow the field down to four for the final race at Homestead, Miami.

The first race in the Eliminator Round will be at Martinsville Speedway for the Goody's Headache Relief 500 Sunday afternoon. Martinsville is a half mile short track that is compared to a paperclip due to its shape. Track position is key here making qualifying a top priority in the first practice. We will want to roster drivers starting inside the top 15 this week. Stars and Scrubs makes a great option this week with the low end values available who have short track success.

Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS  Lineup Picks

Jeff Gordon - $10,300

I don't think many, outside Gordon fans, thought going into the Chase that Gordon would be the only Hendrick driver remaining with eight drivers left. Here he sits and it looks like his track record in this round is much better than the previous round. He has been great here recently with a win, three top 5's, four top 10's and a 5.4 average finish over the last five races.

Jimmie Johnson - $10,400

He has been out of the Chase for awhile now so there will be no pressure as the season comes to an end. He has a good track record at Martinsville with eight career wins and 18 top 5 finishes. He should be used in GPP only this week as he has nothing to race for and can afford to take some risks with strategy.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.  - $9,200

It was disappointing to see the Talladega race end with a caution. The #88 was fast and if that final lap would have played out we might have seen him advance. Either way, he will move on and give it his best this week and try to get a win for the fans. In the last five races here he has a win, two top 5's, and three top 10 finishes.

Carl Edwards - $8,900

He has been extremely consistent in the Chase with five of six finishes inside the top 8. He comes in as the third lowest priced Chase driver and is a nice value for cash games on both sites. He has an average finish of 15.0 in his last five races here.

Paul Menard - $6,000

Makes a nice low end cash game play on both sites and has picked up one top 10 finish here in his last five races. He is coming off a 19th and 6th place finish and should be safe for a top 20 this weekend and for the price we will take it.

Greg Biffle - $5,700

An even cheaper play on both sites and has a better track record recently. In the last five races here he has two top 10 finishes and a 14.0 average finish. He has scored top 20 finishes in four of his last five races. There is no pressure on the #16 team for the remaining four races and their goal will be to finish well and go for wins. Biffle is almost a must play at his price on DraftKings.

Post Practice & Qualifying Update

Qualifying Top 10

  1. #22 Joey Logano
  2. #78 Martin Truex Jr.
  3. #47 AJ Allmendinger
  4. #1 Jamie McMurray
  5. #24 Jeff Gordon
  6. #18 Kyle Busch
  7. #31 Ryan Newman
  8. #43 Aric Almirola
  9. #42 Kyle Larson
  10. #11 Denny Hamlin

Joey Logano will be starting up front for the Goody's Headache Relief 500 with Martin Truex Jr. starting beside him. Both were fast throughout the final two practices and will both have a great shot at leading some laps and contending for the win. Jimmie Johnson qualified 21st for the race but the master at Martinsville was 9th and 1st in the final practices. Look for Jimmie to pick up some bonus points for place differential. Greg Biffle and Paul Menard make nice low end values who were consistent and fast in practice. Be sure to get some exposure to Dale Earnhardt Jr. as well as he qualified 22nd and was 1st and 5th in final practices.
