NHL DFS Picks for for Friday, October 16th

Friday night in the NHL presents us with a seven game slate filled with opportunity and value with some nice matchups. The Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues are playing on back to back nights and the Blues are also playing in their third night in four days. For the most part we will be avoiding the Blues on the road in this spot Friday.

Martin Jones - Goaltender, Sharks (DraftKings - $7,000   FanDuel - $7,700)

With few top goalies between the pipes Friday night, Jones is by far the best option. He has been great with his new team posting a .987 save % in his 3-0 start. San Jose has started the year with 12 goals for and only one against. He gets a matchup vs. the Devils who rank 23rd in goals against per game and 27th in penalty kill efficiency.

Ryan Johansen - Center, Blue Jackets (DraftKings - $6,300   FanDuel - $7,000)

He is playing on the top line and logging 19:00 a game along with 4:11 a game on the powerplay. The Blue Jackets welcome the Leafs to town in a battle of two teams that don't particularly play defense. He is safe in all formats.

Gabriel Landeskog - Winger, Avalanche (DraftKings - $6,200   FanDuel - $6,200)

He has posted six points in the first three games. The Avalanche are a top offense team to start the year and also producing at a high level on the powerplay. He makes a nice stacking option with Nathan Mackinnon in larege field tournaments Friday night.

Justin Abdelkader -  Winger, Red Wings (DraftKings - $4,700   FanDuel - $4,800)

The Red Wings top line of Henrik Zetterberg, Dylan Larkin, and Justin Abdelkader have started the year on fire and have shown great chemistry. They enter a matchup vs. the Hurricanes who have allowed over 3 goals a game. Abdelkader has scored four goals with an assist on seven shots so far this year. Get him in your lineups and ride the streak before it ends.

Justin Faulk - Defense, Hurricanes (DraftKings - $5,300   FanDuel - $5,400)

He makes a terrific cash game play with a high floor. He is averaging around 25 minutes a game and over four minutes on the powerplay. He is also averaging over four shots a game. With few options available at defense Faulk presents a nice value Friday.

Brent Burns - Defense, Sharks (DraftKings - $5,700   FanDuel - $6,300)

He is a versatile payer that plays both defense and forward for the Sharks. He averages 24 minutes a game and four minutes on the powerplay. If you are paying up for a D man tonight Burns presents the biggest upside.
