NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Thursday, October 27

 Claude Giroux (C, PHI)

DraftKings - $6,700, FanDuel - $7,000, FantasyAces - $5,600

Since going scoreless in the Flyers first game of the season Giroux has been red hot recording a point in six straight games. He has yet to score a goal but has been a tremendous setup man with eight assists. He comes with a discounted price from the top guys at the position but has very similar upside playing big minutes on the top line and top powerplay unit. The Flyers also get an elite matchup vs. the Coyotes who are allowing a league worst 4.33 goals per game.

Tanner Pearson (W, LAK)

DraftKings - $5,000, FanDuel - $5,300, FantasyAces - $4,600

Since returning to the Kings lineup after missing the first two games, due to suspension, Pearson has been impressive. He has scored four goals and added two assists in his first four games of the season playing on a line with Jeff Carter and Devin Setoguchi. He also gets time on the second powerplay unit and is currently ranked 9th in SA/60(24.1) when looking at all situations.

Rasmus Ristolainen (D, BUF)

DraftKings - $6,000, FanDuel - $4,900, FantasyAces - $5,150

The price is starting to climb but Ristolainen is still very playable, especially on FanDuel where is still under $5K tonight. He offers a little bit of everything making him a great play in any format. He has recorded six points in his first five games while playing just under 25 minutes per minutes per game with close to five minutes of that coming with the man advantage. Lock him in to your D position tonight.

Stacking Option

Philadelphia Flyers Top Line - Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, Matt Read

Brayden Scheen was moved off the top lie for last game as he doesn't look to be completely back after missing the start of the season due to suspension. Taking his place was Matt Read who is on fire to start the season with five goals. No matter who is playing with Giroux and Simmonds tonight they will be an elite stacking option in an elite matchup. The Coyotes are playing on back to back nights and are allowing a league worst 4.33 goals per game.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes

For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.

For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
