Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/5/17): MLB Advice for FanDuel and DraftKings

This Saturday has a full slate of games, so it's time to build some lineups. With several different contests being offered across FanDuel and DraftKings, you'll have lots of different lineup options. For our purposes, the following picks have been made for contests running all day.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/5/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @TroyKlauder.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider

Tyler Skaggs - P, vs OAK (DK - $7,900, FD - $7,200)

Angels starter Tyler Skaggs will be making his first start since April when he returns to the mound on Saturday against Oakland. This is a great first opponent for him, as the A's are one of the weakest lineups in baseball against lefties. They've got just a .295 wOBA versus southpaws, ranking them at 28th in all of baseball. As for Skaggs, he pitched quite well in his five starts this year, putting up a 3.52 FIP in 29 1/3 innings. Even without considering his price, Skaggs is one of the best pitchers on the slate. So when you consider how cheap he is on both sites, it's tough to ignore him.

Charlie Morton - P, vs TOR (DK - $9,500, FD - $8,300)

Morton has had a fantastic last 3o days, throwing 30 2/3 innings with a 3.23 ERA and 32 strikeouts. On the season, he's got a strong 25.8% K-rate. Morton should have a great start against the Blue Jays, a team that ranks just 22nd against righties with their .313 wOBA. Additionally, with the Astros lineup behind him, Morton always has a good shot at a win. He's a an attractive starter in cash games.

DFS Infielders to Consider

Jorge Alfaro - C, at COL (DK - $3,100, FD - N/A)

Unfortunately, it looks like Jorge Alfaro isn't available on FanDuel just yet, as he was just called up by the Phillies on Friday. However, on DraftKings, Alfaro will be a superb value if he gets a start on Saturday. Alfaro isn't the starter in Philly, but they will likely try to get him some at-bats while he's in the majors, so there's a real chance he earns a start. Alfaro will be one of the cheapest bats you can ever find at Coors Field, the best offensive environment in all of baseball. Capitalize if he plays.

Chris Davis - 1B, vs DET (DK - $4,000, FD - $3,300)

Along with the entire Orioles lineup, Chris Davis is in line for a huge day at home against Drew VerHagen. VerHagen has made just two appearances in the majors this year, and had a 4.90 ERA in 97 1/3 triple-A innings. He's simply not a major league caliber pitcher, and Camden Yards is an incredibly hitter-friendly park. Pairing Davis with a few Orioles is a smart idea.

Brian Dozier - 2B, vs TEX (DK - $3,600, FD - $3,100)

Dozier has been obliterating lefties this season, putting up a 148 wRC+ against them. He faces Cole Hamels, who has a poor 4.64 FIP this year, and, of course, is left-handed. Dozier homered twice on Friday, and is at a very low price for the kind of production he can provide.

Adrian Beltre - 3B, at MIN (DK - $3,800, FD - $3,700)

Beltre is insanely cheap for the kind of season he's having. Beltre's got a 127 wRC+, and in the last 15 days he's batting .345 with and .868 OPS. It just doesn't make sense why he is price this low, on both sites. Furthermore, he gets to face Kyle Gibson, owner of a 6.08 ERA. Pounce on Beltre before his price corrects.

Xander Bogaerts - SS, vs CHW (DK - $3,700, FD - $3,100)

Bogaerts is mired in a deep, deep slump right now, but there's no better chance to bust out than against James Shields. Shields has an abysmal 6.78 FIP and is arguably the worst regular starting pitcher in the league. Xander will be at home in Boston, where hitters thrive, so he's a great buy low candidate.

DFS Outfielders to Consider

Bryce Harper - OF, vs SD (DK - $4,800, FD - $4,600)

If you've got the payroll for an elite bat on Saturday, you simply have to go with Harper. There's not much that needs to be said about him - he's got a 164 wRC+ with 27 homers and might just win another MVP this year. He's facing John Lackey, who has a 5.60 FIP. That's a big day waiting to happen.

Derek Fisher - OF, vs TOR (DK - $3,700, FD - $2,700)

Derek Fisher's price still hasn't caught up to his production. The rookie has a 137 wRC+ in his 14 major league games, after posting ridiculous numbers in the minors. He bats leadoff for the best linuep in baseball, which puts him in a position for tons of fantasy points. Until the price goes up, keep playing him.
