Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (7/17/17): MLB DFS Advice for FanDuel and DraftKings

Tom Vecchio's top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 7/17/17. Expert MLB DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for FanDuel and DraftKings.

We have a 12 game slate to kick off this week. There are no super high priced pitchers, so today is a spot where you might spend down at pitching and fit some bigger bats into your lineups. As of now the only game with weather concerns is the Cubs at Braves game, so be sure to check on that before first pitch.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 7/17/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider

Jake Odorizzi - P, @ OAK (DK - $7,400, FD - $7,500)

Odorizzi makes for an interesting play today because of his match up. He is up against the Athletics who have a 25.8% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitching, that is second worst in the entire league. This game is also in Oakland, which is one of the best hitters parks in the league. So there are a few factors going in his favor, but I still don't see him as safe cash game option, GPP only for him. Odorizzi has been struggling a bit of late, but the upside potential here is worth a shot.

Adam Wainwright - P @ NYM (DK - $9,100, FD - $8,400)

Wainwright saw the Mets right before the All-Star Break and he pitched a gem. Only 1 ER, with 7 SO in 6,2 IP. Really strong stuff from the veteran, and he looks to replicate that performance tonight. The Mets did have a hot weekend for their offense, so Wainwright isn't an auto lock tonight, but this game is in New York at one of the best pitchers parks in the league. Wainwright has seven or more strikeouts in three straight starts, so plenty of consistency as of late.

DFS Infielders to Consider

Catcher (C)

Hector Sanchez - C, @ COL (DK - $3,000, FD - $3,200)

With Austin Hedges being day-to-day with an injury, Sanchez has stepped into some playing time. He had a home run on Saturday and Sunday, and now goes to play at Coors Field. Nothing better than riding the hot bat going to the best hitters park in the league. Much cheaper on DraftKings tonight.

First Base (1B)

Eric Hosmer - 1B vs DET (DK - $4,000, FD - $3,400)

The Royals have really turned around their hot start, and Hosmer is certainly a big part of that. He got his average up over .300, and the power is starting to come around. This season vs right-handed pitching, he has a .366 wOBA and a .177 ISO. He is a great play in all formats tonight, since he is facing a real gas can of a pitcher, Jordan Zimmerman.

Second Base (2B)

Robinson Cano - 2B, @ HOU (DK - $4,500, FD - $3,600)

Always like to give Cano a look when he is going up against a right-handed pitcher, as he is tonight. Cano has a 133 wRC+ and a .246 ISO this season vs RHP. Big time power upside, and he is at a great hitters park, so plenty of reasons to roster him. He does have a tougher match up vs McCullers, so more of a GPP play tonight.

Shortstop (SS)

Carlos Correa - SS, vs SEA (DK - $5,300, FD - $4,200)

Correa is one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now, he has hits in eight of his last 10 games. He is super expensive, so you will need to find some savings elsewhere in order to fit him in your lineup. Correa has a .457 wOBA and a .237 ISO vs left-handed pitching, and he is at home in a great hitters park.

Third Base (3B)

Kris Bryant - 3B, @ ATL (DK - $5,200, FD - $3,600)

Bryant had himself quite a weekend. He had six hits over his last two game, is seeing the ball well, and seems as if the whole Cubs team might be heating up. Bryant has a 126 wRC+ and a .231 ISO this season vs right-handed pitching. This game is in Atlanta, so it should be hot, and this is a nice hitters park.

DFS Outfielders to Consider

Andrew McCutchen - OF, vs MIL (DK - $4,500, FD - $4,000)

McCuthchen had some big tie struggles earlier in the year, but he has really turned things around of late. He has a seven game hitting streak going right now and has a very favorable match up in front of him. He has a .483 wOBA and a .400 ISO this season vs left-handed pitching, massive numbers so lock and load him into your lineups.

Ian Happ - OF, @ ATL (DK - $4,400, FD - $3,200)

The 22 year old Happ finds himself on a Cubs team who is on the verge of turning the corner when it comes to offensive production. He seems a bit too cheap on FanDuel today, so look to roster him there. This season vs right-handed pitching, he as a 122 wRC+ and a .301 ISO. Great numbers makes him viable in all format.s

J.D. Martinez - OF, @ KAN (DK - $4,100, FD - $3,900)

When I say Martinez has big time power numbers vs left-handed pitching this season, I really mean it. He has a 345 wRC+ and a .667 ISO vs LHP. That's right, and ISO over .600. Any time he is up against a lefty, you want to look to roster him if you can afford to. He is playable in all formats tonight.
