Carlos Correa (SS, HOU) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 38% of Fleaflicker leagues

ANALYSIS: And there we have it... it's finally Carlos Correa time. Earlier today, it was announced that the top MLB shortstop prospect for the Houston Astros has been called up to the big leagues, making him an immediate must-add in all fantasy baseball leagues. If you are in a league where Correa is still available, go add him off the waiver wire now. Currently he is only 38% owned, but that number will skyrocket very soon.

Shortstop has been an especially putrid black hole of fantasy production this year, with only three shortstops ranking in the top 100 overall (Hanley Ramirez, Brandon Crawford, Jhonny Peralta). Correa may not light the world on fire immediately, and there are no guarantees with MLB-unproven rookies, but he has a ton of fantasy upside and plays at one of the thinnest offensive positions. That makes him a ridiculously valuable fantasy commodity. Opportunities like this don't present themselves very often mid-season, so go grab him off the waiver wire if he's somehow still available in your league.

Correa will be playing in a talented Houston lineup that also includes Jose Altuve, George Springer, Evan Gattis and Chris Carter, among others, giving him plenty of opportunities to be a productive fantasy asset. He has both power and speed, as evidenced by his 2015 minor league stats: 10 HR, 18 SB, 43 RBI, 43 Runs and a .332/.404/.602 stat line (1.006 OPS) to go along with a solid 39:26 K:BB ratio. It should be fun to see how this talented player performs over the next few weeks.
