Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (5/29/22) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy COD Advice

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 5/29/22. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Last weekend was crazy accurate and this week I have a very good feeling as well. We are getting down to the final games of the Major 3 Qualifiers and for some of these teams, it could mean the difference between winners and losers brackets to start Major 3! The big team to watch for is LA Thieves as they look to upset a tough Optic Texas team that has been cruising to victory as of late.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! First things first we have a Seattle Surge team taking on the struggling London Royal Ravens, A mid-tier matchup between Florida Mutineers and the Boston Breach, and lastly, we have the marquee matchup of the day with Optic Texas taking on the LA Thieves!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings on Sunday, May 29th, 2022, at 3:00 PM EST. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Major 3 Qualifiers

Best of 5

  • London Royal Ravens (+120)  vs. Seattle Surge (-155)
  • Florida Mutineers (-130) vs. Boston Breach (+100)
  • Optic Texas (-350) vs. LA Thieves (+255)

Slate Overview

I was actually quite surprised when I saw the odds on this game. Seattle has been on fire lately and to get them at -155 against London who has struggled throughout the Major 3 Qualifiers since they lost Gismo. Seattle on the other hand has beaten Paris, swept LAT, and beat Florida. They barely lost to a good Toronto team and I think London is below a few of those teams in terms of recent play. Sib and Pred have been on one lately and Accuracy and Mack have also really stepped up to bring this team back to how they started the season this year. Seattle's respawn has been elite and that's where London has struggled the most. SnD is the only game mode I can see London winning and it's slim. So it's either Seattle by sweep or a 3-1 win.

This game was a bit tough to dissect. Boston Breach hasn't been a team I feel like I have watched enough of. They have had a bit of a tough schedule with losses to Atlanta and NYSL. They beat London and this article was written before they play LAT today as well. Maybe if they have a dominant run over LAT today then it might be a bit different how I feel but Boston has struggled in the respawn department going 1-4 in HP and 1-2 in Control. It has been a lot better for Florida where I think they manage to win both Hardpoints. Boston has been the better SnD team so I give them the advantage there. Florida has shown they are a bit better in Control, so I give the slight edge to them. It could go either way though so I will say Florida 3-1 however I wouldn't be surprised by a Boston 3-2 either.

Twice in a row, DK has disrespected Scump. He has been far too cheap for how one of the greatest COD players ever has been playing recently! 7,400 is far too cheap for someone who has dropped 100+ DKP in 12 of his last 13 scored by DK. He is by far one of the best plays on slate and personally is a lock in all lineups. LAT has struggled recently and if they get a win over Boston today they need a win here over Optic. It should make for a fun and tight series but Optic has just been on another level and as long as Prolute continues to dominate in place of Illey, it's going to be hard to see anyone upset them.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is the K/D ratio.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy/Control rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20-point player sweep and a 5-point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Pred: You can go Sib or Pred. I only chose Pred because of the price. Both guys are elite and are playing at the most insane level of COD right now. Pred has struggled in SnD but he makes it up for his near 1.50 K/D in Control. He also has a K/D of 1.13 in HP and the .67 K/D in SnD. Pred's ceiling is very high and that's something I really like about him. Usually, it's either him or Sib breaking the slate, so you can't go wrong with either guy. Going Pred gives you about a 1k price differential you can use elsewhere to move up.

Shotzzy: There are no words to explain how elite this man is. He has scored 116, 128, and 123 in his 3 games so far during the Major 3 qualifiers. Optic has been just playing at such a high level that it's hard to see anyone stopping them at the moment. They put a beat down on FaZe of all teams too. LAT managed to beat them during the Pro-am but that was with General on the team instead of Prolute who has taken this team to another level. Optic should win this one quite easily and I see Shotzzy being one of the top guys. He has averaged a 1.28 K/D in HP, .95 in SnD, and a 1.23 in Control during the Qualifiers. We are getting a great play for cheaper than Prolute at only 9,400$. Grab him while he is this cheap cause it won't last long.

Other captain plays: Dashy, Sib, Envoy, Capsidal, Owakening

COD DFS Value Plays

Scump: I just don't understand the pricing here, Scump has averaged 112.1 DKP per game this season which is insane that he is still playing at this level but he is so cheap at 7,400$. I even have him at the captain in a few lineups just so I can make my lineup more top-heavy. He is a solid pair with any of the other three players but I prefer him with shotzzy who has also just been tearing up the league. During the Major 3 Qualifiers, he has averaged a 1.12 in Hardpoint, a .81 in SnD, and a 1.19 in Control. Scump is as close to a lock as you can get in the COD world right now.

Accuracy: I love the value we are getting on Accuracy. The Iceman has finally been playing very well during the Major 3 qualifiers he's averaged a K/D of 1.01 in HP, a 1.03 in SnD, and a 1.11 in Control. At 6,800$, he is a great pair with one of the top players in Sib or Pred who have been on another level themselves. Having value this cheap makes building the lineups much easier as well as making a bigger variety of lineups. Having Accuracy as well as Scump for value basically lets you make any lineup you want!

Other value plays: Davpadie, TJHaly, Drazah(Punt)

COD DFS Stacks

Seattle Surge: I would go Optic here but at this point, it's obvious they are one of the best stacks on the slate so let me give you my other favorite. Seattle Surge has been on fire lately. They have run through three straight opponents and look to make it four here against a struggling London team. Seattle is by far the better respawn team and I think we are getting them at a good price as well. Sib and Pred are the obvious top players for Seattle but I think Accuracy has been a little bit underrated as well. He is of great value for how he has played. Mack is the only one I'm unsure of at the moment. He has his moments but they haven't been consistent enough to consider him in my lineups at his price when I can get Accuracy for 1,400$ cheaper.

Other Team Plays: Optic Texas, Florida Mutineers, Boston Breach

Summary

  1. TLDR: Seattle 3-0/1, Florida 3-1, Optic 3-0/1
  2. London: Afro
  3. Seattle: Sib, Pred, Accuracy
  4. Florida: Owakening, Skyz
  5. Boston: Capsidal, TJHaly
  6. LAT: Octane, Drazah
  7. Optic: Scump, Shotzzy, Dashy
