Bold Predictions for Fantasy Football Week 9: Tua Tagovailoa, Evan Engram, Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Tyler Boyd, and Joshua Palmer

Tua Tagovailoa - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Dennis gives his fantasy football bold predictions for Week 9 of the NFL season, giving fantasy managers something to think about when setting their lineups.

Week 9 is here, and we're back with another edition of our fantasy football bold predictions. Today's list will include Tua Tagovailoa, Evan Engram, Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Tyler Boyd, and Joshua Palmer.

For those who are not familiar, each week of the NFL season, we'll be providing some fun player predictions for fantasy football. While we wouldn't expect these things to happen, we also feel it's within the range of outcomes.

These bold predictions are fun and potentially edgy and should not alter your strategy for setting fantasy football lineups. I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for reading. Good luck in Week 9, RotoBallers!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Tua Tagovailoa...

Finishes as the QB1 for the second consecutive week

Every football mind seems to find fault with Tua Tagovailoa. However, his health scare earlier this season didn't deter fantasy managers from enjoying his QB1 finish in Week 8. Tua finished with 382 passing yards and three touchdowns in their win against the Detroit Lions. The offense is clicking, and Tua is the ringleader, with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle providing the backup music. Both receivers are in the top five in fantasy points among wide receivers through eight weeks. This group of weapons can explode on any given week, and they will do it again in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears. Look for repeat fantasy production from Tua and his elite fantasy wideouts.

Evan Engram...

continues to prove his doubters wrong by finishing as the TE1

Evan Engram has been on many players-to-avoid lists throughout his career. His lack of production was maddening for fantasy managers and pushed Engram out of the circle of trust. However, Engram has enjoyed a renaissance with head coach Doug Pederson and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has produced 19 receptions on 29 targets across the last four games.

The volume and production have propelled Engram into a top-ten tight end in three of his previous four games. In Week 9, the Jaguars welcome the Las Vegas Raiders in a fantastic matchup. The Raiders' defense has not figured out how to cover tight ends for years, including this season. As a result, the Raiders surrendered the third-most fantasy points to tight ends per game (13.6) and the third-most touchdowns (six). Engram is now a weekly play at tight end and will rise to the TE1 by producing elite numbers, which includes scoring his second touchdown of the season.

Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon...

both RB finish with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown

The Green Bay Packers (3-5) are in must-win mode; luckily, they take on the Detroit Lions (1-6) this week. The best path to victory for the Packers is to run the ball plenty against a Lions run defense yielding 154.9 rushing yards per game. If Aaron Jones can carve up the Buffalo Bills for 143 yards on only 20 carries, his odds to produce 100 yards and add a score versus the Lions seem apparent. While that prediction may not be bold, the addition of AJ Dillon is. Dillon has been a massive fantasy disappointment this season.

Picked by many fantasy analysts to break out this season and be a one-two punch, Dillon has yet to rush for 100 yards in a contest and has only scored one touchdown. However, a run-heavy game script in Week 9 should provide the path for Dillon to rush for 100 yards and score his second touchdown.

Tyler Boyd...

finishes as a WR1 with 100-plus yards and a score

Tyler Boyd has scored in consecutive weeks and is now the WR2 in a Cincinnati Bengals offense that looked lost in their loss to the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night. The Bengals' offense could not find any rhythm without Ja'Marr Chase making high-level plays. The Panthers are a mediocre pass defense, so we should see Joe Burrow and the Bengals' weapons rebound in a big way on their way to an offensive onslaught which will include Boyd finishing as a WR1 in Week 9.

Joshua Palmer...

scores two touchdowns and produces 100 receiving yards

Josh Palmer is the last man standing in the Los Angeles Chargers room, with Keenan Allen presumably out and Mike Williams out. Palmer will be the top wideout for quarterback Justin Herbert in a cake matchup vs. Atlanta Falcons this week. The Falcons surrender 38.6 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, which is the second-most in the league. His upside should result in a blowup week for Palmer, providing him with his career-best game of 100-plus receiving yards and two touchdowns.
