Blake Treinen (RP, WAS) - Closers and Saves Draft and Waiver Targets

Uncle Leo analyzes Blake Treinen for fantasy baseball saves, as the new MLB closer for the Washington Nationals coming out of spring training.

BALLER MOVE: Draft / Add in All Saves Leagues

OWNED IN: 15% of Yahoo Leagues

ANALYSIS: At last, the speculation is over. Blake Treinen has officially been announced as the closer for the Washington Nationals. Not Shawn Kelley, and not Koda Glover (gasp!).

If you are in a league that values saves, go add him now. If you haven't drafted yet, be sure to prioritize Treinen over anyone other Nationals relief pitcher once the closer runs start. Still only owned in 15% of Yahoo leagues, Treinen is an immediate must add.

In 2016, Treinen had a solid 2.28 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, to go along with 63 K in 67 IP. The 31 walks could be a bit of an issue, but Treinen has been lights-out this spring with an 8:0 K:BB ratio. It's a small sample size, but he should have success in the role.
