BALLER MOVE: Target Avisail Garcia as a late-round outfielder in all formats.
ANALYSIS: A lot has been made of Avisail Garcia's potential over the last few years. However, the fact remains that he has yet to generate the gaudy numbers that many claim he is capable of producing. He has been around for a few years now, but let's not forget that Garcia is still just 23 years-old.
He has yet to play more than 72 games in a season during his young career. Garcia entered camp healthy and in great shape after missing the majority of 2014 with a shoulder injury. Garcia is in good position to succeed this year, but fantasy owners shouldn't break the bank to acquire a player without a proven track record.
Power and speed are two of Garcia's biggest weapons, but his plate discipline has been cause for concern in the past. However, Garcia has reached safely in all 12 of his games this spring and has only one strikeout. Spring training stats should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is still encouraging.
Garcia is slotted as the Sox starting right fielder and number five hitter this season. He should be able to rack up a good amount of RBI hitting behind sluggers Jose Abreu and Adam LaRoche. The good news is that Garcia has a huge upside. It wouldn't be a shock if he belted 20-25 HR and 75-80 RBI. He also runs very well and should be able to steal some bases and leg out plenty of extra base hits.
Target Garcia as a number four or five fantasy outfielder. He has promise, but needs to prove that he can contribute for 162 games.
