Bobby Adcock - RotoBaller

21 articles

I am a pretty simple guy. Outside of my family and friends my biggest concerns are other grown men I’ve never met who play games for a living, and live interviews from the red carpet. After that, a majority of my thoughts revolve around women and food. I’ve lived my whole life in Michigan which makes me subjected to decades of the Detroit Lions football. That should give you an idea of how much remains of my soul. The good news is I plan to use what’s left to provide some fake football reassurance for you in a hopefully entertaining way.

Jamaal Williams Could Still Produce In Week 5

Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams has seemingly lost his role as the team's top back with the return of a more productive Aaron Jones. That said, double digit touches could be enough to produce solid statistical day against a Lions run defense that has routinely made average running backs look like LaDainian Tomlinson […]

Aaron Jones Gets Worst Run Defense In Week 5

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is in a prime spot against a Lions run defense that has made Isaiah Crowell and Matt Breida look like All-Pros, allowing 60-plus-yard touchdown runs to both in back-to-back weeks to open their season. Last Sunday, the alarming trend continued when Zeke Elliott gained 240 total (152 rushing) […]

Aaron Rodgers Faces Struggling Lions Defense In Week 5

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers squares up against one of the worst defenses in football in Detroit Sunday afternoon. This week, the Lions could be without secondary starters Quandre Diggs (broken hand) and Nevin Lawson (undisclosed--not practicing Thursday), from what is an already leaky group to begin with, allowing almost eight yards per pass […]

LeGarrette Blount Starter In Name Only

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount remains listed as the starter on the depth chart for Week 5. However, over the last two weeks, it has been clear second-round pick Kerryon Johnson is becoming the Lions number one running back. Last week, he started the game with a 32 yard run, and was the guy […]

Kerryon Johnson Should Continue As Top Lions Back In Week 5

Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson has undoubtedly been the most impressive player coming out of their backfield this season. Negative game script has been an issue for the Lions running game in three of their four games this season, entering three fourth quarters in a double digit deficit. If the Lions offense can start […]

Detroit Lions Defense Could Be In For A Long Sunday

The Detroit Lions defense ranks dead last against the run in just about every way through four games this season. Their number two ranking in pass yards allowed is very deceiving when you consider their passer rating against rank (27th) , and yards allowed per pass attempt rank (24th). On top of all that, they […]

LeGarrette Blount Remains Lions Starting Running Back For Week 3

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount is listed as the starter heading into their Sunday night matchup with the Patriots. His production was not terrible in Week 2, gaining 38 yards on eight carries, but opposing defenses are always able to key the run with Blount being a non-factor as a receiver. He remains a […]

Kerryon Johnson Remains Lions Running Back To Watch Sunday

Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson has easily been the most dynamic player in their backfield through two games. With the Lions off to a shaky 0-2 start, it is likely that they will be throwing out the kitchen sink Sunday night at home against the Patriots. Considering a rough season-long outlook for the Lions […]

Ezekiel Ansah Not at Practice Thursday

Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah was not practicing Thursday, per Lions beat writer Dave Birkett. With questions marks and holes all over the place already, losing Ansah for Sunday's matchup against San Francisco would be a devastating blow to a defense that was just embarrassed in their home opener in Week 1. On the […]

Kerryon Johnson Looking to Establish Role in Week 2

Detroit Lions rookie running back Kerryon Johnson did not have much of an opportunity to showcase his skills in the Week 1 blowout loss to the Jets. This Sunday's content in San Francisco should provide season-long owners a much better idea of what to expect from the Lions second-rounder in terms of workload and production […]

LeGarrette Blount Remains Atop the Depth Chart for Week 2

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount is expected to be the Lions running back to start the game in San Francisco on Sunday. The NFL's worst rushing offense from one year ago didn't do much in last week's abomination of an opener against the Jets to suggest improvement is on the way. Per Lions beat […]

LeGarrette Blount a Non-Factor as Lions Starter

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount was held to negative-three yards on four carries and wasn't targeted in the passing game in his debut as the starter out of the Lions backfield. His night was cut short in the second half when he left the game after getting bent backward awkwardly on his fourth carry. […]

Kerryon Johnson Looks Decent in Regular Season Debut

Detroit Lions rookie running back Kerryon Johnson gained 37 yards from scrimmage on eight touches, including 20 yards receiving on three catches (three targets). This contest was completely out of whack in terms of game script, as the Lions trailed 48-17 through three quarters. Unfortunately, this did not help provide much insight as to how […]

LeGarrette Blount Is Lions No. 1 Running Back

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount will start the season listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart. It appears, at least to start the season, the Lions will attempt to establish a running attack with Blount to begin games. One of the more intriguing backfields entering Week 1 in a run-friendly […]

Kerryon Johnson Has Plus Matchup In Regular Season Debut

Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson faces a Jets front that ranked 24th against the run last year and did not do much to bolster it personnel-wise in the offseason. In every metric imaginable, the Jets defense ranked in the bottom third in fantasy points allowed to the running back position in 2017. It's impossible […]

LeGarrette Blount Starts, Leads Lions Backfield Against Bucs

Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount led the Lions rushing attack in carries (11) and yards (45) in their third tuneup before the regular season gets underway. He appears to have the clearest role of any Lion running back heading into the season, where he'll see roughly half the rushes and likely dominate goal-line work. […]

Ameer Abdullah Runs Ahead of Kerryon Johnson Friday Night

Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia gave running back Ameer Abdullah an opportunity to show what he could do in their dress rehearsal, and per usual, it wasn't much. Before having his longest run of 14 yards against Tampa Bay's backups in the third quarter, Abdullah managed just 16 yards on six carries and a […]

Kerryon Johnson Gets Four Touches in Dress Rehearsal

Detroit Lions rookie running back Kerryon Johnson, the team's second-round pick, was the third running back to receive a carry behind LeGarrette Blount, who started, and Ameer Abdullah, who was second in line out of the Lions backfield on Friday night. Overall, Johnson acquitted himself nicely, gaining 25 yards on his four carries (zero targets), […]

Lions Fear Steve Longa Is Out For Season

Reports early Saturday that Detroit Lions linebacker Steve Longa (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL have confirmed what most believed they saw Friday night when the third-year Rutgers product went down with a non-contact injury. Longa was slated for primary backup duties in the middle behind Jarrad Davis and was a core […]

Lions Starters Dreadful Friday Night

Making his season debut, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed just two of five passes for 51 yards and was sacked twice over his three series of play. Poor offensive line play negated any production out of the key skill position players. It didn't help that running back Ameer Abdullah started the game with his trademark fumbling […]

Lions Backfield Worth Watching Friday Night

The Detroit Lions backfield will be the most intriguing part of their offense throughout the preseason. Kerryon Johnson, the Lion's second-round selection with the 43rd overall pick, will look to build on his impressive pro debut last week when he managed 67 total yards, including 33 on four catches. With Theo Riddick (sat out last […]
